You have two main parties Democrat and Republican.
Moderates and Conservatives tend to vote Republican. Bush, despite what you may think, is a moderate conservative.
The official democratic party stance is an almost socialist brand of liberalism. So as Joe Lieberman just found out, you cannot have any centrist or right of center views to be considered a democrat. The DNC is repackaging Hillary as a moderate, not because she is changing her views on anything, they are just calling her a moderate. As we know she is well to the left of moderate, bordering on marxist socialist.
So no, a moderate conservative is not a democrat. A moderate conservative is most of the republican party, its the ultra-right almost fascist religious right who would make the moderates look democrat in comparison, but they are a small fraction of the party these days. The religious right is slowly going the way of the conservative democrat.

Moderate Conservities are the group of voters that both parties try and win over in elections because they usually open minded and willing to vote for the best man, not the best party. Although in my opinion, they really got it wrong with Bush. I think they see the error in thier ways now. Both parties have moderate conservatives, they are really the swing voters.

More the growing, disillusioned majority that may break the GOP into a rift. There's been a number of articles written about how many moderate Republicans who lean towards the middle on issues like gay marriage, abortion, tax cuts, etc. are feeling alienated by the more far right, wing-nuts who've taken over the party....and this can have some repercussions that could unthrone many extremists in the coming elections. Being singled out as RINOS (Republicans in Name Only) just adds to their disenchantment. Should be fascinating to see when push finally comes to shove............?

No. In fact, true conservatism is all about moderation. It is about EVOLUTIONARY change as opposed to radical REVOLUTIONARY change. True conservatism seeks stability and order. Many of today's ultra-right "conservatives" are not conservative at all. They are radicals with an agenda that has what are called conservative ends. Their means however, are anything but conservative.

John McCain is a moderate conservative. But that doesn't make him a democrat. He just knows that cooperation get you father in politics than hatred does.

You might want to allow people to have their own opinions, without forcing them into one of your narrow little categories. Just because Republicans can funtion like the Borg doesn't mean everyone else falls prey to vacuous minds that easily.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the Conservatives would attack those of their own who were not right-wing enough.
