last night me and my bf ordered it on payperview. we both thought it alright in the beginning, nothing too gay or anything. then the scene in the tent where they have sex made us both flip it off, and i had nightmares. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE WHO MAKE MOVIES LIKE THAT!!!!!!!

As funny as it sounds... SOUTH PARK had it right all along. Even before this brokeback mountain stuff came out; Cartman made a cooment "All the movies that win the awards suck! They are all about gay cowboys eating pudding". I haven't watched the movie, so Im not so sure about the pudding part. Everytime I head about brokebutt mountain that comment comes to mind.

Movie making is an art and not a moral obllgation.

It was pretty obvious from the media that the movie was the love story of 2 gay cowboys. Lots of movies feature hetero sex scenes and nobody bats an eyelash. A gay sex scene would not be unexpected. I would like to see the movie to see what the fuss is, but I know my husband would not be interested so I'll wait til I find another interested party to join me.

People get all high and mighty when it comes to homosexuality, but they seem to forget that God doesn't condone pre-marital sex and/or adultery. Be consistent if nothing else!!!

A movie like Schindler's List gave me nightmares because of the abject horror; I don't think a gay love story would have the same effect on me.

At first I was grossed out by the tent scene too, I actually stopped watching at this point, then I decided to try again with an open mind. I think that when all was said and done, it really turned out to be a really strong love story. It just so happened that the lovers were men.

I haven't seen it yet but judging by reviews and viewer's comments there was more to the story than the homosexuality. What did you think the movie was about when you rented it? If that part of it was disturbing to you, you could have shut it off during that part and watched the rest. From what I hear overall it was a good movie. I plan to see it myself. It's just a story that shows you can't control who you fall in love with.

And of course you knew what the movie was about and ordered it anyway. Sheesh, you got what you deserved! If you had brains enough to follow the movie to the end you'd realize the story was about a love that could never have been. Get off the homophobic soap box and back into your closet. And BTW, this is coming to you from a heterosexual woman

now why would u flip it off over "gay" sex, and not during "straight" sex??? maybe whats wrong here is that a lot of people out there see it as alien acts.. if people dont discriminate against homosexuals, they shouldn't be able to discriminate against "gay" sex... maybe in some years everyone would be able to see it as equal...
and one other member said something true... the movie wasn't about that one scene only...

If you can't stand the gayness, then you and your boyfriend shouldn't've ordered the movie. It's your own fault for getting the movie knowing it was about gay lovers, so you have no need to complain. There is nothing wrong with people who make movies like that. That's just the way things are now, and if you can't handle that, I feel sorry for you.

I honestly did think it was a well-made movie. Okay, so I laughed hysterically at the butt-f*** scene, but I think a point needed to be made about how prejudice can carry too far.

Do you similarly flip out over heterosexual sex? If so, fine. Just pay attention to "R" ratings in the future.

If you don't - then it isn't the sex you're flipping out over. It's the "gay". And good grief, it isn't like you didn't know Brokeback Mt. had "gay" in it...

Did you object to:

The Accused?
Monster's Ball?
Betty Blue?
American Pie?
sex, lies and videotape?

You have already made it clear elsewhere that you do not object to heterosexual sex because you yourself indulge in fornication with your boyfriend, even though it is expressly forbidden by the religion you claim such alliegance to. If your personal beliefs allow you to engage in extra-marital sex, why should they have any difficulties with other people's consensual homosexual sex?
