my husband doesn't wear one either. it bothered me before. But then i figured Women will sleep with men with and without rings so i dont worry anymore. I know our marriage is OK and we have had our share of drama so we are good without them.

Why don't people wear their wedding rings?
There are several reasons someone who is married might not wear their ring:
1.) Work - many professions mqke the wearing of rings dangerous. Rings can conduct heat or electricity, get caught in machinery, react badly with certain chemicals, or in the health care field get exposed to diseases and carry them to other patients.
2.) Comfort - many people change over the course of their marriage physically. The loss or gain of weight could make the ring unwearable (resizing can be very expensive or in the case of hard metals like titanium impossible), an allergy to metals can cause an uncomfortable rash, and an increase in skin sensitivity (like aging for example) can make the feel or pressure of the ring uncomfortable.
3.) Psychology - sometimes a mental "block" can make wearer of the ring uneasy. A latent fear of commitment, responsibility, or other phobia can make the ring uncomfortable.
4.) Planning - some people do not wear their ring deliberately. These people may work in a field where sex appeal or appearing available can aid them in their work (like sales), they may be seeking to end their marriage or have an affair, they may find that some people are attracted to the fact that they are unavailable and be trying to avoid unwanted attention or advances, or they may make a personal choice not to wear it. (Like wives who retain their maiden name after marriage.)
The ring itself is a symbol, and is by itself unimportant. The feelings that accompany the symbol must be there whether the ring is worn or not for a marriage to be successful.
Hope this helps.

The purpose of a woman's ring is for the young man to demonstrate that he has sufficient wealth to support the family's girl, that they're giving to him. It's to demonstrate, also, that he is committed enough to invest a fair amount of money into the business deal. It dates to at least early Jewish tradition, and probably farther than that.
The purpose of a man's wedding ring was so when he was off fighting the great war in Europe, he'd remember his wife and be faithful to her -- and also so jewelers could sell more stuff, in a time when people were saving all they could, pinching every penny, to donate to the war effort.
Neither of those reasons really makes me feel compelled to wear a ring. I am not bought and paid for, and I don't need to spend money just because jewelers cooked up an inventive way to stay in business during a time when Americans felt differently about funding war abroad than we do now. Rings annoy me, they get caught on things, they get covered in muck, or scratched, or otherwise damaged, while I'm doing the housework. Further, I fail to see how a ring will make my marriage commitment any more or less important. A piece of metal has little ability to affect my decision to remain committed to my marriage, or not. If it had that sort of effect, rings would be advertised as a way to prevent divorce, I'm sure. I wear mine when it's convenient, when I want to wear jewelry, and when it's not going to be damaged by my activities, same as any other piece of jewelry I own.

I let my wife know before we were married that I wouldn't wear a ring. I *hate* jewelry, can't stand to have things attached to me or dangling from me. I won't wear a wrist watch, either. She was fine with that.
A piece of jewelry doesn't represent my marriage, my commitment is in my heart and mind. A ring is just an old holdover custom anyway. No big deal. I happily tell anyone and everyone that I'm very happily married, I don't need a ring to do that.

Not everybody believes in wearing jewelry. Meaning... some folk ....due to certain convictions religious or otherwise...may feel wearing jewelry is inappropriate. They may consider it an unecessary showy adornment and and that wearing rings or other jewels is a sign for not being modest in appearance.
The wearing of wedding bands is not a universal practice.
Also, some people just flat out hate wearing any kind of jewelry. It's all about motive. If you have one and you don't wear it because of work situations then.. no problem. Or if you play sports most people know to take it off because you can hurt yourself.. by jamming your finger or other things. But if choose not to wear one when none of these other reasons apply and you just want to appear unattached or are trying to conceal you are married for personal gain.. then... those types of people are flat out wrong.... PERIOD!

I worked at a factory where a guy from the shipping dock got his ring caught by something on a truck. The story goes that his finger got ripped out along with half a meter of nerve (or some other "wire"). All I know is I have never felt comfortable and just placed my on a *very* thin golden neck chain until I got robbed and decided not to wear jewelry altogether.

I wear my wedding ring all the time. My husband also wears his, when he's not at work ( he's a machinist and it could get caught in the machine) but when he gets off work he puts it on.
