With 6 healthy kids, I have to tell you, I never worried too much about this. There is a little pillow you can use to keep them in one position. Just make sure the pillow is situated at their waist. You don't want the pillow anywhere around their face. SIDS is absolutely terrifying isn't it. But God knows what He's doing.

The rule I was told by 3 different Public Health Nurses is that if the baby can roll himself onto his side or tummy, let him sleep in that position. But always place the baby on his back and let it be his choice. Apprently the risk of SIDS is only if someone else puts the baby on thier tummy, not if the baby rolls himself into that position.

Well I put my kids on their tummies since birth I didn't care what the doctors said because thats what they like. I tried it on their backs and they cried all the time. Now my kids are 6 and just 2 months old. It will be fine. They either have SIDS or they don't. Some kids are lucky, others aren't. I have baby monitors in my bedroom and in living room from the kid's room.
Not to mention everytime I get the baby up to feed, change, ect. she is always in a different position. She can't roll over yet but she'll be laying in the opposite end of where I put her and pushing herself into a corner. Thats when she begins to have a fit!

I am 53 years old and a proud Father of 4 healthy children. When my kids were at this age, we never worried about things like this, infants are going to to roll over, turn around, pull on the crib, cry, sleep and etc. You can't stay up 24/7 wondering what position your baby is in while he/she is sleeping. It's natural for them to toss and turn and do all these things, no need to put pillows and supports etc. in the crib. Don't worry about it. We all worry about and are concerned with our infants, let nature take it's course. Some things have to be left in a higher power. All things are meant to be.

Make sure that he has no pillow or anything else that could cause him to suffocate accidentally. He obviously prefers to sleep on his tummy and there's not really a lot you can do about it apart from resettling him every time you find he has turned over. It's likely that, if he can turn over, he is capable of arranging his face so he can breathe.
In the 70s and 80s it was thought better for kids to sleep on their stomachs (or at least that's what we were told).
Every baby is different and yours is no less of an individual!

My Daughter is 5 mnths old and has found her tummy to and hates it. I have rolled up blankets and covered them with another sheet at either side of her and found that this works just as much as going out and buying an expensive pillow which you will never use again.

I have a 4 month old little girl and she has been rolling over for about 2 1/2 weeks now and we still put her on her back and in a sleep positioner, we plan to do this until she can roll back over from belly to back on her own, just in case.

This is totally normal. Babies eventually learn how to roll over and it would cause you and your child undue stress if you kept going in and turning him back onto his back. Take a deep breath, keep his bed free of pillows and stuffed toys and realize that your son will be fine. I worried when my daughter started doing this, but the worry went away after a while. SIDS is rare. It will be OK.

I worry about that sometimes, too. my 7 month can only roll on her belly and not back. ;-) I have her sleeping with a sleep position-er (you can get them Walmart) or on a flat surface. I also keep a baby monitor in her room, close to a ticking clock. That way, if I can hear the ticking on on my end, I'll be able to hear if she panics. They still don't know what causes SIDS, and as a mother, worrying won't help. Cherise your baby and enjoy your life. We can't spend our whole lives afraid.

If he can roll over on his own, he's fine. My 5 1/2 month old baby has been rolling over on her own since she was 3 months old. I asked her pediatrician about it, and he said that if she could roll over by herself, then sleeping on her tummy was fine.
