I decided, when I needed to make the choice of making a point or trying to stop a bullet with my stomach, that diplomacy was the better option.
It's the only time I've been diplomatic, but I think I made the choice to stay alive by my reactions...

Yes. When I was 15 years old I had appendicitis and my appendix ruptured spreading poison through my veins. Lucky for me I went to the hospital. I actually stayed in bed for three days before going to the hospital because I thought I had the flu. When I got to the hospital I had emergency surgery and the doctors were able to remove my appendix and suck out the poison in tubes and saved my life. I am grateful.

He wasn't going to let me live, or at least wanted to hurt me very badly.
A guy tried to mug me one night in the parking lot of my workplace. I thought it was one of my friends joking around, so when he grabbed me from behind and told me he wanted my money, I pushed him away. He tried to stab me in the face, but missed, and I knocked the knife out of his hand. Then I ran like hell.
I don't know when he hit me, I don't remember it, but my face was and chest were covered in blood when I got inside. He'd had a ring on that cut my cheek and nose. I had to have x-rays to make sure he hadn't broken something, and the doctor gave me codeine. The codeine caused a reaction, and I got horribly ill.
I still don't know why he aimed for my face instead of, say, my chest or gut. I'd think he would've wanted to go for the biggest target if he'd wanted to just incapacitate me and take my money. I suppose he must have been high, or very, very angry.
It's true what people say, you don't have time to be afraid in a situation like that. If he'd have just walked up, showed the knife, and asked for my wallet, I'd have given it to him. I only fought him and ran out of reflex--fight, then flight.

More than likely God decided it would be better to leave me here than let me up there.
