Honestly, I don't give their a s s anything but in my city, there is a group of people who wear orange shirts and khaki shorts and ride bikes in our Downtown area where a lot of homless people hang out who are combatting this problem. The residents of Jacksonville who work downtown and sit in Hemming Plaza on their lunch break complained that they cannot enjoy their lunch daily due to the constant begging of homeless people. The bike riders pass out pamphlets with self help information in them like listings of churches, shelters and the like to these residents so when a homeless person comes up to them, they no longer give them money but a pamphlet in an effort to really help them get their life together. I don't know how much it'll help but it seems like a good idea. I figure if you're truly in need, you'll take the information and try to get yourself together.

I frequently have a bit of food in my car when I go to Fort Worth (one hour away). I will offer people a coke, V8, granola bar, something like that.
On a cold day, my mother & I saw a homeless man on the street as we were going into a fast food restaurant. On the way out we ordered a small soup, mentioning who it was for. When the lady brought me the order, she gave me a large order for him.
I think this Christmas I'm going to make Christmas cookies (or other treats) & drive around Fort Worth handing out cookies to those who look like they need it.

Water a sandwich blanket coat clothes, all of those are good. Take him to church. See if you can get him a bath, you would be surprised how thankful they are for a toothbrush and toothpaste. But nothing worth to much money or it will get stolen. Good luck and god bless.

Give them coupon books for McDonalds or somewhere else so they can get food or coffee but not alcohol (in case they are the type that would spend their cash on alcohol rather than eat). Give them old blankets so they can stay warm. Also old shoes.

What is the deal with his situation? Ask him politely why he is homeless, and ask him if he has tried GOV't housing or job placement....maybe one day there will be big TENT lots for some of those guys who do not like to ask the government for more than they need.... you always heard of that type of "complex" ,,,
