I was home in bed asleep when my mother and said we were under attack. I thought she was talking about her office and told her to get out and asked why the heck she was calling me. Then she said turn on the TV and I we were talking just as the 2nd plane hit. I couldn't believe the towers crumbled the way they did and that I just watched thousands of people die on live TV...My heart broke for us all...
I sat and cried for the rest of the day, I worried about my friends that live & work in NYC...
Peter Jennings was fantastic...I miss him & his reporting.
It is one of those days you will never forget like most older people remember where they were & what they were doing when Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X & JFK were shot...

I work in government on the west coast. We were trying to figure out if there was a threat to the west coast. I was also trying to understand the route Bush took back to Wacshington D.C. I assumed that we had intelligence that terrorists were mobile on the East Coast with SAMs and might try to shoot down Airforce 1.
I think there is a lot that we will nevr know about that day, at least not in this lifetime. The next couple days I remember hearing about people lining up in NYC to collect money for the deaths of family in the WTC. Seemed odd to me, so soon after the thing just happened. I had a theory that some people may not had gone to work that day and decided to be presumed dead to collect.

I was at work when a co-worker said a plane hit one of the World Trade Center Towers. I shrugged it off at first thinking a small plane or something. Then found out a few minutes later a second plane hit. Then we all went to a neighboring office which had TV to watch the events unfold.

I was in my first year of college, in Keennesaw, GA. The whole school was sent home at 2:00 because we are so close the Atlanta, where the Center for Disease Control is. They were worried about our safety. So at around 2:30 I went to my grandparents and stayed the night, and watched the crash over and over again like everyone else in disbelief.

I was attending a math class at college and I heard about the attacks from my professor. I underestimated the severity of the situation until I saw on TV what exactly happened. I still get sad when I listen to the CD that was in my CD player during that time.

I was in rehab for drug addiction. I was outside that morning, sitting at the picnic tables on a smoke break when someone came over and said that some planes just flew into the world trade center. I didn't know what to think. Shortly after that, I saw the footage on TV and then we talked about it in group.

Well Buck and I both got up late and had to take a cab to work - as we were driving the cabbie asked us if we had heard the news. We got into work and were there an hour or so and I said "Lets go get a drink" so we bolted for the bar!

I was on my couch, glued to the TV all day. Good old Peter Jennings got me through 9/11.

At this moment in time exactly 5 years ago I'm not sure, all I know is they didn't tell us what was going on in school but we got really suspicious after half the school got dismissed because their parents/guardians had come to pick them up.
