I'm addressing both men and women with this question. I'm attempting to understand how changes in technology and society as a whole have re-defined women's household roles. What does a woman expect? What does a man expect? Where do we come up with some of these notions?

ok, I have alsways been a stay at home mom, and i am not comfortable in a working capacity, as I have aspergers syndrome. That means i have autism!! i have a clean home, and he gets hot meals, but I think, too that technology has made our lives, not easier, just more time consuming. think of it: how many ppl dont go online, dont spend time on emails, cell phones, ect. 50 yrs ago, we women stayed at home, and we have had alot of advances like washer and driers, making like easier for us women... men expect a clean home, and women to be barefoot and preggers. Bull$hit! I am a stay at home mom cuz I wanna be. women expect men to work, give us money so we can pay the bills, and let us take care of ourselves. i let hubby drive ( i am lazy in that respect! shhhh dont tell hubby that!) and i let him work, he thinks I am a domestic diva, and get this: roles have come full circle. society expects us women to be home and take care of the children, and todays economy won't allow for that. I am blessed to be able to do that. so I cant complain. Society doesnt like the idea of an independent woman. oh well.... i am teaching my kids that they can be anything they want to be.

Women should stay at home and raise children. Unfortunately, it has become almost impossible for a man to get a job that pays well enough to support a family on. I think that as scientific technology advances people try to adopt new ways of living their life. Unfortunately, I believe that some laws of natural order should not change and this is evidenced by the failure in some social organizations such as inner city living and even a failure to correctly raise middle class children properly. An efficient and successful family can most easily be achieved when two parents are married, own their own house, with one parent working and the other raising children. I think a lot of these notions are based on cultural values passed on for many years. It is interesting to think that in the past 5000 years of written history, it was only in the 1960's that women started widely pursuing professional careers and moved, as a whole, out of a domestic capacity. It will also be interesting to see what the long term effects of this are.

a "domestic woman" (in my opinion) is a woman without much of a life outside her family's, she stays at home all day and cleans and does chores.

a woman who works has her own life, but also does some of the household chores (e.g cooking). men generally don't understand that she doesn't stay at home all day and they don't participate in the chores, unless it's the chores they like to do (e.g gardening), and so they stay at work all day because they think that the woman will take care of the kids and they don't realize that the woman also has a job.

it all depends on how the relationship started in the befining . if woman stayed at home then she is expected to keep a tidy home if she works then man and woman share the 50/ 50 of all work around house if man stays home women work then its his job to see the house is in order so not much has changed except more men are staying home and enjoying the kids about time i say .
