If the hardrive is intact just go to your local computer repair shop and ask for/buy a serial cable to connect a laptop hardrive to your desktop. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself take the laptop in and they can easily do it.

buy a 2.5 inch external case for the harddrive (2.5 is standard size for laptop harddrives) and put the harddrive in the case, following instructions. Now you have an external hdd you can plug into usb any computer as an extra drive to salvage photos from and get extra portable storage solution in the process

Doesnt matter how you broke it.....
Pull out the HDD, check your manual on how to do it.
Get a IDE to USB cable that supports your size drive, its either 2 or 3 inch
Hook these up to an alternative computer which you wish to copy the pictures to. When you plug it in and power it up, it should show up as removable media in My Computer
If you live in the Seattle area, I charge $40 for data recovery
Good luck, pictures are priceless

There are some thoughts: a million) in case you imagine that's largely the demonstrate then you definately may favor to objective to connect an exterior computer screen to the computer. this isn't one hundred% in view that some laptops do no longer immediately change their demonstrate to an exterior computer screen with out replacing the demonstrate settings (which for sure you may't do because you may't see something). in case your computer is determined up so as that it would not close off even as that's closed then you definately might want to turn it on with and close the demonstrate even as linked to the computer screen (the computer may seem for an exterior computer screen source with the help of default) 2) you may eliminate the not straightforward stress of the computer and connect it to a laptop (you want to discover someone who's acquainted with the interior workings of a laptop). All you want is a "computer to IDE not straightforward stress Adapter Cable". you may want to ought to have yet another laptop to objective this. surely, you open the laptop case up and connect the computer not straightforward stress with the help of IDE cable for your laptop (a lifeless ringer for the different not straightforward drives) and it truly is going to examine your not straightforward stress as yet another stress once your laptop boots up. you may then bypass records over to the laptop.

Pull the hard drive out. You can still access the photos as long as the drive isn't fried.
By the way, you should always remove the hard drive before discarding and old computer.

Generally, you will need another laptop, and put the hard drive in, or connect the two. Not impossible, but not as easy as with a desktop.
