...yeah...its was ok ... you can stay in the over water bungalows and drink cocktails for only so long, beautiful weather (dry heat not humid which is good) and all but it just lacks ..well personality for lack of a better word... Its a little over rated, And they are very strict over there too...IE alcohol is limited to the resorts, you cant walk around in your swimmers in public if your a lady, you can go to jail if you bring a bible in your bag and they find it...and if you do get into trouble there are no embassy's.... and there is no real cultural experience there... BUT if it must be the Maldives I'd go for the resorts - bungalow's, luxury and privacy at the same time (stay away for the hotels - they are abit well ..huh) some ok luxury resorts are Hakuraa Club, Veligandu Island Resort,
Laguna Beach Resort but in all honesty they are all the same just on a different island with a different names etc...website below will give you info on temperatures/rainfall etc and check your local governments travel guide before you go they have good info on laws etc for the Maldives....enjoy

without doubt, and according to the best coffee table guide book, it is the Soneva Fushi resort on Kunfunadhoo island in the Baa atoll. the largest island (except for male) with probably the lowest guest density in the maldives. i stayed there, and the owner sent my girlfriend and myself to what he considered were the 4 closest resorts to his own in terms of everything, and he won! it cost him 1500usd for the huge powerboat to do this for us since the other resorts were far away. what great people are Sonu and Eva and the whole six senses group. Eva hand carries used batteries out of the island and the country, that's how concerned they are to protect the maldivian environment. ps, no staff, even the general manager is allowed to wear shoes, the sand in the bars and restaurants is so fine. expensive but so relaxed and laid back. 6 stars
