the sites I have been visiting are unclear and tend to contradict each other. Does anyone know a good link or have a good method which worked for them? Thanks

My doctor always taught me to time. Any amount of time is okay, and you know your baby's schedule. You know that, for example, the baby kicks more in the afternoon between three and five. So one day, count them. Say he kicks five times per hour for two hours. The next day, just make sure you time it for the exact same time, preferrably when your baby is the most active. And this should give you your kick count.

Also do a kick count when your baby is a little less active as well. I used to do them twice a day when I got about 30 weeks--once at night and once in the morning. But then again, I was a paranoid first-time mother... Good luck on the baby! Hope I helped!

My DR said not to overly worry about the kick counts. She said to lay down, drink something cold (makes the baby more active), and count for 1-2 hours or until you feel 10 kicks/moves/etc. I'd just do it before I fell asleep at night. (Usually I'd get the kicks within 30 minutes.) Some days the baby will just move more than others.

It is a good thing to know, but I did kicks and it only told me my baby had died.

Good luck!
