To me, it would be like hating everyone with blonde hair. It's silly to me and no I'm not Jewish.

I don't know what world you live in but do you remember Hitler? I hear ant-semetic comments all the time. The reason I asked this question was because someone on here was asking nasty questions about Jews.

To Jewishgirl: That's not it. Christians are not supposed to hate.

Because they were/are God's chosen people. satan has always tried to kill them.
Just like when the Romans beat Jesus so savagely, they didn't do it to the 2 thieves- yet they beat Him unmercifully.
Very few people are ambivalent about Jews and or Jesus.

For a long time, the Jews were thought to have played a role in the persecution and condemnation of Christ. Thus, in the early days of Christianity, it was not uncommon for Jews to be persecuted for this imagined wrongdoing. Since the matter was never cleared up until only recently, this persecution perpetuated down through the centuries.

Remember that in the Middle Ages, and even as late as the early Industrial Age, Christianity was the ONLY acceptable religion. PERIOD. Non-Christians (and even a goodly share of Christians) were persecuted and slain to appease God. Common folklore (and I've no idea as to the veracity of the statement) holds that during the Crusades, after the besieged city of Beziers fell, soldiers reportedly asked their papal adviser how to distinguish the faithful from the infidel among the captives. He commanded: "Kill them all. God will know his own."

For long periods in Europe, Jews were accused of abducting and sacrificing small children to use their blood in rituals. In 1215, Jews were accused of stealing the holy wafers used in Communion. It was believed that they drove nails through the wafers to crucify Christ again and that the pierced host bled or cried out. Entire communities of Jews were ruthlessly wiped out, typically by burning them at the stake. Just so there is no confusion, victims were most often burned alive.

When the Black Plague ravaged Europe, the Jews were once again accused of atrocities such as poisoning wells. Across Europe, Jewish communities were annihilated. Jews were boarded up in temples and home and left to starve or suffocate. In many areas, the temples were set fire to, the inhabitants burning alive. Those who managed to escape the flames were slain or else maimed and tossed back in.

Oh, and let us not forget Adolph Hitler, whose death camps slaughtered hapless Jews by the millions. Their crime? They were Polish, considered to be second-class citizens under Nazi doctrine. Of course, Hitler didn't limit his hatred to Jews. He also slaughtered social democrats, liberals, reactionary monarchists, capitalists, communists, resisting Roman Catholics and Protestants, homosexuals, Roma, the physically handicapped and mentally retarded, Soviet prisoners of war, Jehovah's Witnesses, anti-Nazi clergy, trade unionists, psychiatric patients, and pretty much anyone who opposed him.

I don't know - how did you come to the conclusion that everyone hates Jewish people?

I don't know anyone who hates Jews... everyone makes fun of stereotypes though when we're joking around. Dumb blonde, rich Jew, fat American, etc... it's all in good fun. Maybe things are different where you are from? I am from the Northeast USA and we have a sh!tload of Jewish people :)

Jews were blamed by some for hard times in Europe, before Hitler,it's said they controlled too much of the money. It's said by some that Jews manipulated the market and caused the crash in 1922 or was it 1928 triggering the Great Depression. It's said that Jews are rude and arrogant, and not easy to like.Just things I've heard!!

It stems from very, very long ago and for many reasons.

Basically though, people just seem to need to hate someone. Some people pick Jews, some people pick different races or religions, and some people just hate everyone from a specific country.

I don't know why it's necessary but it seems to be to many.

I dont really think many jews are hated except for in the middle east because of their wealth. Alot of countries in the middle east are highly hateful towards israel for this reason. Throughout history jews have been persecuted.

I think that the first diaspora millenia ago made them strangers in many lands. Because of this, they have found survival by identifying with eachother. Most Jewish people I know are fairly hard working and like to be sucessful, and this has probably aroused resentment among the people they found themselves living among.

It sucks, but it's made them a stronger people (If such a thing as 'a people' can actually exist)

Some people just have to have someone to hate, to pick on.....some pick the Jews, some people choose blacks, etc. To answer your question about why.........probably goes back to Jews putting Jesus to death, even when HE was a Jew. I'm not a Jew, either, but I don't choose to hate 'em. Feel sorry for them waiting for the Messiah, yes, but hate 'em, no.

It comes down to sibling rivalry, really. Isaac's descendants versus Ishmael's. Jews versus Arabs...and people have picked sides. Isaac was the son of God's promise. Ishmael was the result of Sarah trying to "help" God fulfill His promise by having her husband bed her servant....as if God needed the help! Unfortunately, they were not one big happy family.
