Such as the tsunami in thailand, or the war in central africa, or the bombing in the UK.

To the Dickn2000 the aid that was given by america put alot of small businesses in africa out of business and in debt. We are stil in debt to them and evryday it grows more interest. You buy our natural resources for cheap and sell it back to us at double the price. America is part of the reason why africa (most of africa) is still impoverished. Not to say it wasnt appreciated.
I understand you want to spend ur day mourning ur loss but why make it every1 elses problem when we have problems of our own

I do get the impression that american tragedies get more press and are made out to be alot more significant than anything else. Yes i'm aware of the attention africa and the UK got but they in no way compare to the attention america has gotten.
Thank you to the person who pointed out that the reason why we see so much of 9/11 is because of the power the american media has over the world.

F.Y.I 9/11 did not affect the WORLD, contrary to popular belief. The world did not stand still! People went on with their daily lives because the last thing they need is to worry about someone elses problems. Especially with the plummeting of currency value and the ridiculous price for petrol. While you mourned people starved! but i dont expect you to care its not ur problem.

Some of your are statements are completely ridiculous.
Your statement: "You buy our natural resources for cheap and sell it back to us at double the price."
If we are not paying enough, why are you selling to us? Surely you can find someone to pay more. If we are charging too much, DON'T BUY FROM US. Surely, you can buy cheaper elsewhere. That's just being stupid.
Your statement: "the last thing they need is to worry about someone elses problems. Especially with the plummeting of currency value and the ridiculous price for petrol"
Your currencies are plummeting because your governments are hopelessly corrupt. And If you don't like the price of petrol, bear in mind that the USA does not export oil. Blame the countries that produce oil, for they set the price.
Regarding the Tsunami in Indonesia and Thailand, no other country donated more than the USA. Regarding the wars in central Africa, after the mess in Iraq, how would you react to US aid?
Also, these wars are rooted in tribal conflict. If the US aided either side, the other side would immediately scream in protest.
What you want ranges from wildly impractical to outright stupidity.

The events of September 11, 2001 were the result of a group of terrorist, not an attack of our country by a military force. While the actions of the fire departments and police were honorable, and the loss of those people tragic, they were doing their job, something they are paid to do and knowing there is always risk. The people who were killed and injured in the twin towers, the Pentagon and on the airplanes involved, were victems of a terrorist attack, many thousands die around the globe yearly from such insanity. The only heroes from that day were the citizens on the plane who attacked the hijackers and saved further destruction, injury and death. More people are killed annually by drunk drivers than all of those who died in the terrorist attacks. I read recently the famalies of those who died from the 09/11/01 terrorist attacks received an average of 1.5 million dollars from the U.S. government. If the famalies of those who have lost loved ones due to drunk drivers as well as being innocent victims of other crimes and circumstance receive nothing, why are we paying the famalies of the terrorist attacks? Our country needs to put things in perspective. The events of 09/11/01 were horrific, but the daily losses of typical American famalies should be getting the attention.

Wow! I seem to remember the US being pretty damn quick in coming to the aid of tsunami victims. Interesting that you have overlooked that. Have you ever noticed how much aid the US provides for other countries? You may want to look that up before assuming that we only care about our own.
The catastrophic event of 9/11 hit here...on American soil. That makes it more personal for those of us who live here. It was a senseless act of violence on innocent people by evil taking the form of other people. It was not nature vs. people, it was people vs. people. This event impacted everyone in the US in some way, even if we didn't have people in those towers or the Pentagon. We are vulnerable and that has hit this nation hard. It's been crippling to experience that the strongest country in the world was brought to its knees by a terrorist group. It will take years of healing to overcome that I think. Although--people are already doing a fantastic job of it!
I'm wondering--have you been to Central Africa to see what they are talking about there? Maybe they're talking about the war & how it's affected them. You don't know. It's much more publicized here in the US because of the technology & ability to spread our message across the world.

When things occur at home, the impact is greater. When something occurs far away, the impact is lesser.
That's just how it works.
When 9/11 happened, the footage of the buildings on fire was practically on every channel. You couldn't escape the news of 9/11 for at least a week. It was rather a shock.
But the other events you have described, a fuss has been thrown about those so I don't understand what you're wanting here.

Exactly how stupid are you? The US and the rest of the world, immediately came to the aid of the victims of the tsunami. Were you living in a cave or under a rock while the relief efforts were going on? USAID and the Red Cross provide continual aid to Africa and the Sudan, and the recent bombing in the UK received a great deal of publicity, and offers of help from other nations of the world. Where were you during all this? And what help did you personally offer? Before you criticize, look at your own ignorance and complacency!

In Canada the news media always acknowledges previous historical events, when their ann. dates come around. Can't speak for our American counterparts as I'm not home in the USA these days. Right now it's 9-11's turn. Respect isn't a hard behavior to give.

It does not lessen other world tragedies , to remember all those victims of 9/11 , on the anniversary of that date , here in America . To mar their memory on the date of the terrorist attack ( or anytime ), is most cruel and unusual . This attack not only affected Americans ; but people of all races and faiths ; citizens of many countries .Call it a "fuss" if you wish-but we must never forget .

So you think that people that did die are getting too much attention? Such #$%$$@#!!!
Those people who died in Thailand, or UK, or wherever are remembered in their home countries. Those were horrible disasters and terr-acts, but they happened on foreign soil...
You must be either too young and ignorant, or a foreigner that does not understand the pain of American people.
