Ask a lawyer. They do give you free consultation. Sofar as I know if they have a court order that your dad needs to pay it, than yes he is obligated to pay but I think its only until you're 21.

You are legally obligated to do whatever the legal authority tells you to do in this case the court. Parental rights are a completely separate issue from child support. Parental rights are never revoked without cause and the obligation to support your children is in effect so long as the child remains a minor. Inability to provide support can lead to reductions in that obligation however this can Only be effected by an application to the court at the time circumstance change.

Once they are terminated he no longer has an obligation to pay, BUT if he owes back support, that needs to be paid. Why don't you call a lawyer out of the phone book and ask?

is the child support for before his rights were terminated. if so he does owe. if after the termination then no. anyway that is the way i understand the law. but get a lawyer to represent your dad, he shouldn't have to pay anything, besides it's kinda late to be collecting child support now isn't it. hope this helps a little........
good luck to your dad

The court decides if he is obligated to pay. His parental rights are not a factor.

However some parents may give up parental rights in exchange for not having to pay child support.

Usually the parent with custody might not want the other parent around at all and might offer to "not ask" for child support if they give up their parental rights.

Val, sure, in all of Texas you could terminate your precise as a determine. I agree that $3 hundred isn't something contained in certainly one of those youngster help, her is the mathematics: $3 hundred divided via 30 days this covers: foodstuff - 3 nutrition an afternoon clothing - a minimum of one pair of footwear, underclothes, clothing and different needs. look after - 30 days according to month toddler sitters and or college... All this at a cost to you of a trifling $10 an afternoon and you do no longer arise for the youngster whilst the youngster is scared or ill. you do notchronic the youngster to the sitter or college (meaning you do no longer share the gas fee). you have father a new child out of wedlock and now that harmless new child will would desire to continually ask your self why their father abandon him with a mom who the father thinks is "insane". nice job. Did you ever think of that the mummy of your new child needs the money on time by using fact she has costs to strengthen your new child. Step up on your household projects and pay YOUR new child help. It feels like it extremely is the least you're able to do. Get a modification, pass to court docket and enable the courts garnish your wages; i think of on your state the mummy has to comply with the termination rights first. whether she have been given a million money from the government or everywhere else has no longer something to do with you or your household projects; nor does her relationships. i think of in case you tell a kinfolk regulation decide your justification alongside with the single night stand area would boost your household projects merely to coach you a lesson on reckless abandonment of your sperm. subsequently condoms are unfastened. you're a father whether you like it or no longer.

I have been told that once parental rights are terminated then all child support terminates. maybe he owes for before his rights were terminated? And rights usually cannot be terminated unless an adoption is about to take place.
