If the beading is all over the gown it can be done. The beading should be fastened where the hem will be and then cut a half inch below the fastened bead work for the hem.

If the beading is just on the bottom, the dress can be taken up if there is a seamline going across the waist. If there isn't, one can be put in in a way to still keep the gowns shape and fit.

Sorry to tell you this, but you don't take up a gown, you have to have it altered. Formal gowns and wedding dresses are not hemmed...they're taken up by shortening the bodice.

There is no other way to save the beadwork.

I am good with beads, but that sounds really hard. I would go with a professional. Look them up in the better business beureau. I would not do it if they say it cannot be done. Can you change your shoes?

Take it to a professional tailor. You don't want to ruin the beading.

I would take it to a seamstress, or tailor, you would be amazed at what they can do.
