My apartment manager just griped me out for hanging the American Flag off the balcony. He said "my boss is coming over, and he won't like that"

I have read the lease agreement, and there's nothing in there saying anything about hanging from the balcony. I could go hang myself if i wanted to. . LOL. . . . But seriously, there's nothing in the lease about hanging a flag or anything to that matter.

Look at your lease, if it does not specifically prohibit flying a flag. fly with pride and tell your apt manager to shove it!!

Read your lease. If the lease says that hanging anything from the balcony is prohibited then they can tell you not to do it. A lot of apartments have this listed because they don't want people hanging a bunch of junk from the balcony because it causes possible new tenants from leasing there. If it isn't in the lease then you can do it.
Some apartments don't put up American flags because they want tenants from all over the world to feel comfortable. I had this happen at an apartment complex. I asked why none of the flag poles had American flags and that is what they told me. I told them "but this is America". Apartment managers and employees are idiots. I would definitely leave it hanging either way until they give you an official notice. This is America and hanging the flag should be allowed ANYWHERE. Leave it up, especially today.

Do you live in the USA? I cant' believe someone would object to the US flag! Dannnng!
because you have freedom of speech and freedom of expression and you can hang whatever flag you want. Unless your rental agreement says "no hanging".
Ask your apartment manager if he/she is a communist, or perhaps has some sort of issue with the United States that someone at homeland security might need to know about...
HAH!

I don't think the American Flag is the problem - maybe your apartment has a rule saying you can't hang ANYTHING over your balcony. Lots of places are like that. If you had a standing flagpole, I bet he wouldn't have said anything.

What are the rules that you agreed to in the rental agreement? No flags? Nothing hanging from the balcony? That's my bet. It's not anti american (I would hope not) but it's following what you agreed to.
