I think that would be right. The power of terror is making people fearful of doing anything. Added security that really doesn't work, scares every day, and let's face it the security meter is always Orange or Red or close to it. It's worse in my opinion, but I'm with the USA no matter what. I think we could've made better decisions on a few things that would have made things a lot better instead of a lot 'scarier' than they are now.

Irony? Well, I suppose so. However, if you do not deal with the ravages of radical islamic terrorists within the borders of our world, nobody else will either.
On September 10, 2001, did anyone think Osama bin Laden was a threat to the United States? Ask the daughter of a woman my wife worked with who was blinded in the 98 attacks in Africa. This has been a long struggle for Osama and his Al Queda organization. It started in Africa in 1991, and escalated in attacks around the world in 93, 95, 98, 2000, and 2001. This growing threat was ignored by nations around the world. It was ignored because the scope and what was required was going to be long and hard and difficult. Fearing revolution by radical islamics at their doorsteps, they chose to sweep the growing storm under a rug in the corner.
Thank God we have a Man like George W. Bush as President. Had we had a lesser person, the 9/11 reaction might have been less prolific, less effective, and possibly nonexistant. Whining that we attacked the Taliban, who were harboring Bin Laden, and that the world seems less safe is folly for those who are protected behind the sword and the shield. The world is more safe now, because we have shone the light on the Islamic terrorist cockroaches. They scatter, and cause bombings like Bali, Paris, Madrid. These attacks happened because we're winning the war. Despiration is always a difficult thing to predict. If the terrorists weren't despirate, would they have tried to take down airliners last month?

The world will not become safer unless the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is resolved in a manner satisfactory to both parties (virtually impossible at this point). This is the root of all the other conflicts in the Middle East, maybe not 100% but close.
The West (England/USA, etc.) carved out new borders after WWII and created this whole mess. In the years following WWII the Israeli’s marched into Palestine and forcefully evacuated thousands from their homes under the promise that they would return. They are still waiting to return. There are still thousands living in refugee camps in south Lebanon, Gaza, etc.
They have nothing, no homes, no real leadership, no political power, no army, nothing. This desperation, coupled with the skillful and malignant manipulation of the word of Allah is what gives rise to suicide bombers. We consider them senseless evil terrorists; they consider themselves people who have no alternatives. Yet we refuse to consider their plight, we steadfastly say that we will destroy terrorism, which is a naive and childish notion since we (as the West and the blind supporters of Israeli foreign policy) have in a sense forced the creation of terrorism.
Of course, I condemn terrorism (by anyone! it's not only Muslims that use these tactics), but we need to start listening and trying to understand. This is what any two sane adults would do in case of conflict, right? Why can't that happen now? Because we are to arrogant to even concede an inch, that's the problem. We want solutions but only if the other party gives 100% and agrees to everything we say. Well, this is not a real solution. Do we really want peace in the Middle East? What about the "black gold"? Let's not even got here. So, no the world is not safer and will not get any safer until some of the above issues are tackled seriously. And no, it is not entirely the USA’s fault, but we are certainly not making it any better.

And so you think that we should have just looked the other way after 9/11? Get real dimwit. Your damn right they have helped and then some! Last time I checked, we havent been attacked since, and on top of this we have provided a country that was under rule by a dictator that killed in the masses his own people with a democracy and a start and a new life. As for you article that you just read, if you believe anything that the main stream media has to say, then you not a bright crayon in the box. Think about it, when the hell was the last time you ever heard anything positive come out of the media???????? Also to all you dems that are also slamming the president, look at it this way. When you constantly undermind your leaders, all you do is make the terrorists stronger! You stand behind the man that leads your free country whether he is right or wrong..........Bottom line!!!

On the contrary . That is absurd . Just ask yourself how many attacks have been thwarted since 9/11 ? How many have been caught before harm was done ?
A former Clinton supporter , an American Muslim by the name of Mansoor Ijaz has said that Clinton administration (& Sandy Berger's) counter-terrorism policies fuled the rise of bin Laden , from an ordinary man , to a Hydra-like monster .

is it ironic? Fighting should not take place because that is exactly what happens. That is why there should be no war. Once you start one, it gets very politically muddy and it is so hard to stop. Therefore, starting a war creates more enemies. Look at how many countries are against the US now. I am against most government things, but to have whole masses of people hating our government is like a ticking time bomb. It is just a matter of time before there will be alliances amongst those haters and they will begin to attack. That is why there is more terror and Bush has only made things worse. Nothing he has done has made anything better. NOTHING. The people are suffering, the economy is suffering, everything is worse. Thanks f*cking Bush.

I assume you are not a US citizen. I am a very angry person with this situation. Not because of the currant policy makers but about the previous ones that should have stopped this before it started. I am angry at the people that is responsible bordering hatred for them. I have never been racist a day in my life but I am getting there faster and faster. I see these same groups of people doing these same things in the name of their religion which is a farce. It is not the policy makers but the idiots who carry out their stupid missions. Take a look at Britain, Is President Bush president of that country to.

USA is trying its best to secure the American citizens, but it is being done in a very negative fashion. After 9/11 we should have soul searched our selves that why this happend but our President chose to attack another country that had no connections with 9/11, it was done just to settle the score of his fathers defeat in Iraq/Kuwait war. Great nations do not settle scores, great nations should always lead, and this is where we lost the hope of seeing peace. The wrong decisions of our incompetant leaders is what destroying our national security.

The world has been a dangerous for a very long time. The policies of the US government MAY make the world less safe, but the world would be dangerous regardless.
