Yes, I believe they do. I read about it the other week. Something about larger eyes being more attractive as they're rarer in that part of the world. And then it went on to mention 'anime' characters and how they have large eyes-eyes being the gateway to the soul and all.
As for working for you. Would you really want to change yourself that drastically? I doubt it can be reversed and either way you'd never look the same again. If it's because they really do cause you problems - self confidence, aesthetics etc - then see a consultant. But you have to be so certain that that's what you want.
And also consider what the people around you may think. Will they like the difference? Will they still see you as the same person? Yes, they should But it doesn't mean that they WILL.

I am a british student and let me tell you something from my heart. I think Japanese eyes are awesome! I would love to be Japanese but I wouldn't have surgery over it, because I've got what I've got and I'll live with it. I think it's sad you wish to change your eyes, and Japanese eyes are my favourite.
To answer your question, I don't think it's impossible to have surgery done, although I wouldn't recomend putting your eyes at risk and possibly blind yourself just to look european. Oriental people are handsome anyway, and I think that's because of their eyes, the shape is very gentle and subtle which I think is cool. The scaring could be painful too after the opperation.

I think you should leave your japs eye alone. Don't let anyone near that thing with a scalpel, That brings a tear to my eye just thinking of it.

changing the shape of your eyes will still leave you looking like you. I like the way you look, but if you don't, go talk with a board certified plastic surgeon about the changes, but if you give me cat eyes then I will just be a fat American chick with cat eyes, see what I mean?

not sure but why would you want ot look different that you alrewady are? i think you look unique, noone else looks like you guys and you are special in that way.
i say keep your eyes the way they are.
