It's from a book called "The Poems of Light" and it wasn't written in English, so this is my translation (it sounds a lot better in its original form). Here it is:

My beauty,
your eyes are so black that at night
When I lie with my head in your lap
it seems to me
that your deep eyes are the spring
from which misteriously flows the nigth over the valleys
and over the mountains and over the plains
covering the earth with a sea of darkness.
So black are your eyes,
my light.

I think it's beautiful, not lonely at all. He or she is looking into the pupils. the pupils are sometimes seen as deep or the windows of the person's soul. They are also black. It is an oxymoron. She says his eyes are so black like the darkness tha covers the land at night. Yet he is the light to her. Take the gender out of it because it doesn't matter. Doesn't have to be a person, could be the moon.
