Is there a shortcut, in word, that allows you to format the picture, so that its layout is behind text?

No but you can record a macro and assign it to a key. Go to record macro and then complete the actions once. Then assign it to a key and then you can do it every time using that key. I hope that makes some sort of sense.

Not that I am aware of. You need to click into the "Drawing" tool bar and then you can format your document so that the graphic is behind the text. Look on the web for "Office Experts" it's a forum where people discuss and share information on issues just like this - great help.

Yes there is. Put your pic in to your Word doc, right click it, go to format pciture. Click the layout tab and then on the far right there is a choice to select behind text or in front of text....easy as that !!

Rather than insert it as a picture, try inserting as a watermark, click on Insert, then Watermark and search for the picture as norman. This will insert the picture, but it will be faded, as the name suggests, as a watermark. This looks far better than text over a picture as it's easier to read. Also looks more professional.
