ok this is a question my math teacher gave me

Bob visited the hardware store he observed the following transactions:

Harris bought 4 for 50 cents
Clark bought 21 for $1
Mike bought 1,134 for $2
and Parker bought 450 for $1.50


what did they buy

They bought alphabet boards/cards (not including commas!)

4 = 1 letter
21 = 2 letters.... and so on

This is an old trick!

Numbers to go on doors, each costing 50 cents per digit.

Harris bought a 4, Clark bought a 2 and a 1, Mike bought two 1s, a 3 and a 4, and Parker bought a 4, a 5 and a zero.

They bought house address numbers at .50 per digit.

Harris's house address is "4" for a total of .50.
Clark's address is "21" for a total of $1.00.

Etc.

(The comma shouldn't appear on Mike's line).
