I was living in Virginia in the center of a bunch of military bases and a city airport and a government lab. I remember wondering if I needed to collect my family in case there were more plans and they continued south down the coast. I saw the news footage and couldn't believe it at first.
Now I wonder if this is how people who lived through Pearl Harbor felt.

I was sleeping with the radio on like I always do and the first report of an airplane hitting the WTC infused into my dreams. In my dream it was a small fixed wing Cessna and I was watching from the sidewalk below.

Shortly after that my alarm clock went off and I flipped on the TV as I always do while showering/getting ready. I remember just sinking back onto the bed in disbelief and watching as the second plane hit. It was so surreal, I couldn't believe it was really happening. I ended up being late for work but nobody was working anyway, the TV was on in the break room and everyone stayed in there for at least half the day, in complete and shocked silence.

It pisses me off when people say "remember 9-11" as if any of us who watched it could ever really forget. Barring a severe head injury, I think I will take those images to my grave with me.

I was sitting in math class. it was the third full day of my freshman year at high school. I remember exactly what they said over the PA. They called down students whose family memebers worked in the World Trade Center to the Theatre. And then they made the announcement. I live about 30 miles east of Manhattan. It was a frightening experience. Parents kept on pulling there children out of the school for the day, and so many girls where trying to call home, to see if everyone they knew and loved were okay. One of the most vivid memories I have of that day is when a girl interuppted my theology class so she could tell her younger sister that their father was alive. She started to cry and the whole class cried with her. All I could remeber thinking after that incident was of my uncle. He worked in the Towers, but had left for his honeymoon on September 9th.

I was home sick from school that day, there was nothing on TV, so I turned to the news....that's when I saw what was happened. I practically fell off the couch. Jeez, I can still remember the look on my face, how I felt, what was around me, the smell of the room at the time, the sound of the news reporter's voice ringing in my head. "Today, a plane crashed into the World Trade Center..." it's such a clear memory, it scares me sometimes how clear it is...

At my daughters house. We was shocked and cried for our country. Yes I believe they felt just like we do today. How sad for our nation and all of the families. I still look back on that day with shock. Flight 93 crashed not so many miles from our house. I am trying so hard to work through the feelings for the Muslim people that danced in the streets that day. They knew about the deliberate actions that was to take innocent lives, but was happy about it.

The time delay on the west coast found me sleeping in bed, when my radio alarm clock went off. The hosts were talking about a plane that hit the WTC. I didn't want to wake up to negative news, so I hit the snooze button & hit the hay for another 10mins., when the alarm went off again only to have the hosts talking about another plane hitting the Pentagon & how they believed this was no coinsidence, I lept up from bed, plunked myself infront of the tv in my PJ's, only to remain there for the rest of the day in absolute shock at what I witnessed with billions of trillions of people around the world.
Today is a hard day for those who lost loved ones at this historical event. My deepest smpathies for them, as they will have to witness over & over again their loss of those in the destined planes & twin towers & pentagon with each passing year. The loss of people, including those citizens from other countries will be remembered & those who've survived thier loved ones & us who witnessed the tragedy, share the grief with the US people.

I was working in a home for developmentally disabled. I just sent them off to their day program and was needed at a nother facility to pass out medication. As I drove in my car I heard on the radio about a highjacking. I had no idea what was going on until I got back to the first house and seen on TV as the buildings came crashing down. I WAS FREAKING! I THOUGHT IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD. Sad to say, it wasn't. Bummer.

I was in the shower getting ready for class, my dad pounded on the door and said "Mike! tragedy! planes are attacking the World Trade Center!" I think at my former high school the teachers were told to not talk about it because they went on like nothing happened but thats all the students could talk/think about. It still gets me emotional thinking about it...

First college class ever. Will never forget it. Later in the night drove home up the Jersey Turnpike where just 2 days prior I stared at Manhattan and ever since it isn't the same road.
