Sometimes, during pregnancy, the bones of the symphysis pubis (pubic bone) can partially separate. The pubic bone is comprised of three bones with a "cement" between them. During pregnancy this cement can loosen and could cause pain. Try using a man's belt to see if you get some relief. I simple X-ray can show the problem (although we do not like to use X-rays during pregnancy). Discuss it with your doctor. You should also check out the possibility that you may have the beginning of a urinary tract infection (or bladder infection). That sometimes gives similar symptoms, although not usually pain in the bone, per se.
The pubic bone consists of three bones with "cement" between them. During pregnancy, this "cement" becomes softer and there can be a separation of the symphysis pubis (the pubic bone). An X-ray will show the separation, but we are reluctant to perform an X-ray while you are pregnant. After the delivery of the baby, the bones will become tightly knit once again. The bones do not break at all, but merely separate. You can alleviate the pain by wearing a man's belt around that area. Cinch it as tightly as you can and it should alleviate the pain. YOu can also safely use Tylenol every 3 hours. Separation of the symphysis pubis is very common.

The pain your are describing is likely coming from your pubic symphysis. The ligaments and tendons in your body loosen in pregnancy because of relaxin, a hormone produced during pregnancy. Your pubic symphysis can actually separate some, and almost all pregnant women have pain here in later pregnancy. This is not at all unusual, but mention it to your obstetrician on your next visit. There really is not anything you can do. Sitting in a warm bath sometimes helps.

I had the same thing with my first pregnancy, it is totally normal. Mine started when I was getting up off the floor at Lamaze class. It was so hard to walk and I could barely lift my feet off the ground. I told the dr. and he said it was the ligamints stretching. One morning I woke up and the pain was just gone. I want to say it lasted a few weeks. I just did a quick search for round ligament pain so her is a site with a little info for you. www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/205.html
