Our son is now 3 months and 1 week old now. I stopped breastfeeding when he was about 3 weeks old because he wasn't gaining weight properly, also because I was so stressed. I still have milk in my breast, they don't hurt or anything but I was feeling for lumps last week and massaging and they started to leak a bit. I self expressed to see if it was milk and it was. Is this normal? I stopped taking my prenatals when I stopped nursing. My breast are full of milk and sagging, (Sorry if TMI) I am still 2 sizes larger than before pregnancy but they are sagging pretty low due to the contents still within them. Will this go away eventually? I have our son is on isomil now because they think he couldn't digest the reg. similac stuff, I think it was just a huge change from my breast milk and that's what the problem was. I was also told that no matter what formula you use some babies have a hard time and you can use karo to help them poop. Do you think I should try to nurse again?

It's normal to still have milk for a while after weaning. The more "checking" you do to see if it's still there, the longer it will take for it to go away.

If you want to try to nurse again, you could certainly do so. You might not be able to establish a full supply and might have to combine breast and bottle, but some breastmilk is always better than none! If you are interested in trying to get your child back to the breast and relactating, contact your Lactation Consultant at your hospital or the La Leche League Leader near you. A LLL Leader will help you for FREE.

Your breasts are different because of the breast changes you went through during pregnancy and the period of initial post-partum engorgement that all women go through. They are going to be "more saggy" than they were before you had a baby. That's just something all moms have to deal with, even if they didn't nurse a single day.

Congrats on the birth of your son.

This is NORMAL. Your milk WILL eventually dry up. My son is 15 months old, and I still have a teeny amount that is on one side. I would like to recommend wearing a well fitted nursing bra for support and to minimize stretching and sagging.

You son will adjust to the change. His diet is limited now and any change will affect his wet and poopy diapers.

I would continue to take the pre-natal vitamins. Your body is still building itself back up slowly and can use the extra help.

Good luck!

I still have a little milk and its a year and a half later.

Once you make milk you can always make milk. Make sure your not taking birth control and that you are drinking a lot of water.

I suggest you contact the Leleche Lauge

You should take prenatal pills again they have some for lactating women. i also think that you should give it another try with the breast feeding. maybe just use a breast pump and give it to him in a bottle. breast milk is the healthest thing for you lil one.

ask his doc about infamil with iron.... and your body can continue to make milk up until five years after you have a baby, so you might wanna talk to your doc about that too.

Yes formula is inherently evil and babies need enemas to poop when using it. Be sure to breastfeed if you have milk, and continue until the child is 17. This will ensure your child will never ever get sick and he will be immune to every disease in the known world. The only people in the world who ever take healthy poos are breastfed, and the only people filling up the hospitals are formula fed people. Oops, I gotta go. I think my kids have Korean haemorragic fever, gotta get them to the hospital. Damn formula.

Yes, put that baby back on the t!t and you should be alright, but supplement the breastfeeding for him.
