Sounds like it may be refreshing. May not be a bad monitor. They can last from 1 hours to 10 years. It's hard to say how long exactly.
Right click on the middle of your screen, the click on Properties. Go to settings, then Monitor. See if the screen refresh rate can be reset to default. Otherwise try 75 hertz.
Another possibility can be your power management or your video card.
Follow steps above, but click on Screen saver, then power. Make sure to change to Home Office, then never to all settings. Check all other tabs and make sure hybernate is disabled, prompt for password is disabled.

We have monitors where I work from '97 althogh they are sad looking. 4 years is a bit young but not suprising. I would make certaini t isn't your video card giving you fits by switchjing it out with another monitor if you can. If you need a replacement, do yourself a favor and get a thin flatscreen and reclaim a square foot of your desktop.

Could be time. 4-6 years is about 'it' for a CRT. Personally, I would save the money until it DIES, then buy it. Yours might act 'funny 'for months and months before it goes. A friend of mine had one that would do EXACTLY what yours does and when it turned off, it would be very 'slow'. That was 1 1/2 years ago still doing the same thing

Our company treats computers with a three-5 twelve months existence expectancy. it relatively is why you could generally get a three twelve months guarantee. it relatively is merely based off how long the computer will in all probability run. As far a technologies is in touch, 6 months once you purchase one you could assume it to be "previous".

Technically an electronic equipment is supposed to have a life span of 5 years.
You can find an upgraded product in the same category by that time.
