I think you're wanting to know a site so you can pretend to be an underage lesbian. Pervert.

- I think you are awesome for accepting this. It's nice to see a parent with an open mind who genuinely loves their child for who they TRULY are. I don't know of any teenage websites really... just tell her to steer clear of Yahoo Chat. There are all kinds of catagories for lesbians/gays/etc.. Most (not all) of the people in any Yahoo Chat room will expose her to things that aren't very healthy. True.com is a website for gays but I don't believe they are in her age group. Good luck to all of you.

I don't think you should worry about finding information for her unless she asks. I'm glad that she could go to you with her openness, and I'm glad you are fine with it. That is soo cool! If she just told you, just love and support her, and as time goes by, you'll find those sites if you need to. Don't worry about the chat sites, they're usually littered with perverts and bots. good luck.

she can probably check out myspace groups. however, gay or straight i would not let my teenage daughter chat with a bunch of strangers online. it can be dangerous theres so many sexual predators out there.

if anything check at her school for a counseling group of that sort. at my highschool there was a group that homosexual students met with the school counselor and just talked about how they felt and the type of things they had to deal with day to day. it was also a good opportunity for them to socialize with each other. the counselor would just listen and mediate. it helped my friends overcome many of their fears.

there was also a gay-straight alliance club at my highschool. sexual orientation didnt matter and it was also a place for young people to make friends.

Congratulations on being outstanding parents. That your daughter felt close enough to you to tell you is a great start. I am 39 and just came out myself, so I can relate. Coming out is a very scary thing regardless of age. Your acceptance, love and support are the most important thing for your daughter.

Here is a group on Yahoo that is a forum for the GLBT teens:

You may consider joining PFLAG. www.pflag.org
What better way is there to show her your support than to continue to educate yourselves on how to support her even better than you already are?

It is good to see a parent so supportive of a gay child! I applaud you. Please caution her to be careful, though. Even for lesbian teens, there are predators out there. Myspace is a fairly good place for kids, but there are also some real goofs on there.

Good luck! :)

What a refreshing outlook. I'm glad you guys are being so supportive. Kids need that!

And I mean no offense, but I think you guys should stay out of it and let her find her own way.

Bless you for not trying to "cure" her.

P.S. And let's DEFINITELY not help our children understand sexuality...because the less they know the better. It's working so far right?
