Was anyone surprised that nothing else happened today since it is the 5th anniversary of the attacks on the U.S.? Did you expect something to happen, or did you think everyone was getting worked up over nothing?

I'll give my opinion when I pick the best answer, which will be chosen based on your explanation.

K, here's my opinion:
I thought that we wouldn't be attacked again on the 5th year anniversary because alot of people were expecting it to happen...my thought is that they will wait until next year to attack us again of any year if they are planning another attack because it'll be the exact same day *tuesday* as it was the last time they attacked us...and it'll be the 6th year and they might think we'll let our guard down a little bit since nothing happened this year. but everyone has their own opinions and this is mine so...

The enemy needs the element of surprise. In some way 9/11 is probably the least likely day to be attacked. On the other hand, it would be foolish to let our guard down on this day.

No, i didn't think anything would happen today. I think people get worked up over today because its a day to really reflect and think back. I wouldn't say people were getting worked up over nothing, what happened was a terrible tragedy and affected countless lives. I think its just a time for everyone to get together and think of all those who lost their lives and make sure that they are not forgotten. As for someone doing something, like having another attack planned for today because it is the anniversary, no, i didn't think that would happen at all. If someone was going to plan another attack it would probably be on another day when people didn't have their guard up so much.

Well, for starters, the day is not over yet, but i am not surprised that nothing has happened (sorry for the double-negative there). I am going to go out on a limb and assume that if anything were to happen again, here, it would be unexpected - I know a lot of people were expecting something today - they'll wait until our guard is down again. But at the same time i am surprised that nothing happened b/c if they want to get you where you hurt, they should get you when you hurt - the mass memorial services would've been an opportune time for something to go down, you know?

I did think that something was going to happen today (its 1:10ish here on the west coast, so I still have a good part of the day to go...) and there still could be something that goes down. The only reason I think that is because the whole anniversary thing with the terrorists...they seem to enjoy doing bad things on anniversaries of events.

I think we, as a nation, should feel the terrible losses of 9/11 and we should remember...that said, though I think vigilance is the key...we should've, by now, learned that we are like other Nations, vulnerable...it's part of life...the times are uncertain and there is a major imbalance in the world between the haves and have-nots...no, I'm not overly worried...I still think those 19 creeps who perpetrated 9/11 were absolute nuts, and the chances of a repetition are slight...how often are you struck by lightning or death-wish minded violent madmen?

No.
Do people still expect an attack on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor?
No, because an attack can happen at any time or place, therefore it would be pointless to constantly be worried about an attack.

I would be more surprised if something did happen today, this is a day that everyone is so fearful and so super-sensitive of; for good reason. A big part of evil doers is the element of surprise and if they are going to pull another attack it will be when we least expect it. I pray for all who died that day; not those who caused it; and all those who are now giving up their lives overseas for us and our freedoms.

No , I am not surprised ; and was not aware that anyone was worked up -but I can see why , if they were . The reality of threats to our freedom were never more vivid , as they were when we all woke up to a national tragedy . As you look at the footage of the onlookers , watching the devastation to the WTC , there is not one face ignoring the scenes of the tragedy . Not one person who was not moved by the humanity and sorrow . Though there are some now , who seem to have forgotten that day-or-want us to ..we must never forget .

Given the heightened awareness of preceived risk- this wouldn't be the best day to attack the US. Wait until after the rememberence has passed, a false sense of security once again envelopes the country and then attack us when we least expect it.

No. Its too much expected on the 9/11 anni. I'm not surprised. I didn't stay home and lock the doors because thats how the bad people win.
