This is possible in a couple different circumstances, the first being that the baby is still not engaged in the pelvis, and is very high. The other situation occurs when the cervix is tipped backwards along with the uterus. Both would indicate induction could be dangerous, and is contraindicated. She will likely go past her due date, and likely should. After all, the baby can take 42 Weeks to bake!!! Much of the timing of pregnancy can be off based on when implantation occurs! It is believed that implantation takes longer in some women. He did the right thing in this instance if he decided not to induce, and I would love to know why they would induce a woman a week before her due date! This should not be done unless there is a good medical indication for intervention! You should trust your sister to the doctor's care. There is a very good chance he knows more than you! After all, he spent about eleven years in school, and not everyone can be a doctor! It doesn't sound like you know all the facts. Please don't try to advise your sister on this. Leave it to the professionals.

The only reason if doc said to induce now then their is a risk to mother or baby, could be the baby is to big. Other wise he should not induce. And some times the cervix get pushed to the side, mine was always that way. But you and your sis need more info. Get her check by another doc asap just to make sure or have your sis check her file to see if there is something the doc isn't telling her. If was a major concern to the doc then he would have taken her in to do a C-section. I would call and start asking questions.

very strange that dr wants to induce Before the due date. very strange they couldn't locate the cervix.
are you sure you have your story straight??

i mean, my cervix is really far back, so it's difficult for the dr to get to, but it's there! i wonder if that's a similar situation.

i'm kind of confused with this whole situation.

Doesn't sound right. If he can't find her cervix (but how can you not), how is inducing going to help? You have to check the progress of cervix to see if there is anything wrong during labor.

this doesnt make sense how could he not located her cervix? the only way he wouldnt be able to locate a cervix is if she was to dilated and it thinned out which would mean she is ready to get birth

Doctors don't always know best.

I say go with the doctors advice but if your sister doesn't want it then she can just not go or request a later date.

Get a second opinion.

Either way she should go with her gut.

There is always a possiblity that Doctors are wrong.

I think that just means the baby has not "dropped" yet. She has not dialated which makes it impossible for the baby to push it's way through.

Trust the doc...chances are he know what he's doing.
