When I need to save a screen image on my PC, I hit a Print Screen button, and then paste it in Paint. Is there an equivalent function for Macs (for both classic and new environments)? Is there a way not to save, but print screen images?
I'm new to Apple.

Save a picture of the whole screen to the hard disk (root folder): Command+Shift+3

Save a picture of a portion of your screen to the hard disk: Command+Shift+4, then drag a rectangle around the part of the screen you want to copy

Save a picture of an open window to the hard disk: Command+Shift+Caps Lock+4, then click anywhere in the desired window

* After using any of those key combinations, open & print the file. (It will be saved as Picture #, where # is the lowest number higher than 0 not already used for (a) similarly named file(s) in the same folder.)

Then, if you want to, delete the file.

FYI: You can add Control to the key combinations if you want to just copy the pic to the clipboard. (The Command key is also known as the Apple key)

Hi Christy...the only way to print a screen shot is with a Mac is to press Command-Shift-3 as it has to be saved first it in order for you to print. Unlike PC's where you can press F12 or the screen shot button.

Here's the list of commands for Macs:

Go to the Spotlight at the top right hand corner and search for a program called "Grab" or you can find it through Applications:Utilities.

Using that program you are able to print screen, print with a delay, or print a specific window.
