did the record studio need to do a helluva editing job to make her voice sound more palatable?

Of course not. Paris Hilton has no voice whatsoever. She hasn't any musical studies neither. She could sing live only if she wanted to, but you'll need ear plugs...and new windows. Although her songs are very easy to sing. No high notes, simple and constant rhythm... Anyone could sing her songs just fine at home.
Don't compare Paris with Real singers like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Shakira, Withney Houston, Sarah Connor, Pink etc. These girls can blurt high the first second and pitch extremely low the next. The 'variations' their voices can produce is the result of years of hard work, musical studies, working with vocal coaches and/or amazing talent.
Nowadays, computers can make a perfect voice out of any amateur (ever heard Avril Lavigne live? Or Spears and others alike?).
It would be naive and just plain stupid of someone to think that an amateur (musically speaking) like Paris Hilton wouldn't use computers to fix her already shrill voice. She obviously has the money.
We should just wait for a live performance from her, without backing vocals to cover her mistakes. But her songs are very constant. She shouldn't have problems...But hey, this is Paris Hilton we're talking about.

I'll just stop here.
Hope my answer was explicit enough for you.

She is much better live than Britney, Ashlee, Lindsay, and many others. We all love the haters of Paris but she is the resident expert on the 15 minutes rule. She is going like that bunny with the batteries and will keep going and going and going, no matter the slanders or haters. Can she sing - so so - would I buy her recordings - no would I support her before the three named above - absolutely. She ain't that great - but she is what we have got. She is a LOL every day.

Monty Python "The meaning of life". . ."each and every sperm is sacred, each and every sperm is excellent. . ." Why is merely human life 'sacred?' We human beings are actually not something different than bare apes with a unusual skill to think of abstractly and communicate symbolicly. There are over 7 billion human beings alive on the earth right this moment, adversly affecting all different life on the earth. an epidemic or conflict that decreased the inhabitants of human beings by ability of ninety% may be the terrific ingredient that ought to ensue for the earth. How plenty 'sacred' sperm lands up interior the sewage equipment? we ought to all cry?

She could not.
It's a fact that her voice is computer enhanced. Even more so than people like Britney Spears and JLo

Plus she's too busy partying and apparently getting DUIs to tour anyway, so thank god that won't be happening.

I think alot of artists are just a pretty picture lacking real talent from the artist themselves. somebody dresses them right, makes the music, writes the song, produces the video, holds both sides of their mouth up to make them smile, etc

The second option ma'am. She couldn't sing to save her family's fortune-and definitely not while she's in DUI mode!
