The best replacement for Chocolate is Carob. It is an imitation chocolate made from a carob bean. It may take a little getting used to but once you do you will really like the fact that it isn't putting the weight on. Also exercise curbs the appetite. Good luck.

Willpower isn't the way to quit smoking, it shouldn't be a chore, and if you make it into one then you are going to feel like you are depriving yourself of cigarettes rather than rewarding yourself with a healthier body. More people go by to smoking when using will power than any other method of quitting smoking.
Eating sweets whenever you get cravings is also not a very good idea, because chocolate or anything else is going to be rewarding yourself when you have cravings – that's like giving children sweets when they misbehave, associating treats with something negative is just going to enforce the negative behaviour or in this case cravings.
The chemical addiction is not the problem with smoking, not at all given as cravings and withdrawal are very small, it is the psychological and that factor is impacted when you take on the idea that quitting smoking has to be hard, has to mean weight gain and has to mean denying yourself smoking.
Think about it logically for a moment, you are purposefully making quitting smoking hard on yourself, rewarding yourself when you feel like smoking, of course you are going to be less likely to quit successfully if you make smoking into the better of two evils!
Easyway - http://www.allencarr.com – you can pick up a book from Amazon for a few pounds, there is no weight gain, no will power, no suffering or denying yourself, it is an easy way to quit smoking and it is the number one method for quitting smoking effectively.

I quit a little over 4 years ago because of the price and it bothered my girlfriend. I worked in a restaurant that had smoking and still was able to resist lighting up. I was on the patch for the first 2 days, then quit them too. Just remember, everyday it gets easier and easier. The average weight gain, I believe is 7 pounds after you quit smoking, so I wouldnt worry about 7 pounds.

You need to do this with the help of God, some willpower (from your question, it appears that you have enough to want to quit), and a little investment.
Try the nicorette gum thingys. I also left you a link from the CDC that has resources for how to quit. I know about this because my dad had the VERY SAME PROBLEM. After he quit smoking, he sucked on butterscotch candies for months, which gave him numerous cavities. Plus, he gained weight; went from a healthy 160 to an unhealthy 230 (picture a guy who's 5'11" with a Buddha belly and lots of hair). Unfortunately, he took up smoking again to relieve the stress, however, he ALWAYS goes outside in the patio to smoke to keep our house smelling clean (we may need to sell it later).

Hi
I quit smoking. I have like 2 months without smoking. My tricks to quit smoking are:
a)Work out.- It calms anxiety and stress. Most of the time smoking is result of stress and anxiety. Working out helps to calm down
b)Drink lot of water. You started eating chocolate instead of smoking because you wanted to keep your mouth busy, well you could try having a bottle of water on your mouth. It helps pretty much
c)Avoid places with smokers because in this way you avoid temptation
d)Calculate how much money you spend in cigarretes. Every time you feel tempted to but cigarretes, instead of buying cigarretes, put the cigarretes money in a secret pocket and do this everytime you feel tempted to buy cigarretes. In the end of weekend or month, see how much you have saved and spend the money on something nice.
e)In case you couldn't resist and bought the cigarretes, ask a friend to throw them away.
f)Inform to your relatives and friends about your quit smoking goal and they will support you
Well I quit smoking in this way. Hope this was helpful.

if you have the will power to stop again then your half way
there its not easy i know, i gave up a year ago and touch wood
it has been easy . in your case just put it down to a blip in
your life and go for it .
i went to computer classes to learn the computer and take my
mind off cigarettes and now I'm going to college to learn Spanish
this month, so I'm keeping my mind occupied on different things
so the cigarette money is going to better causes and hopefully
giving me a second language.
any way good luck and adios .

i am on day 1 without a ciggy - after 25yrs smoking. the hardest part is the thought of giving up - it aint as hard as you think!
I've been chewing nicotene gum all day and it helps with thhe craving plus I think it helps to avoid overeating too.
give it a go!
