Gay isn't something we "grow into" or "change into." It's who we are... it's how we're born. We can't change the fact that we like men, just like you can't change that you like men.
Therefore, a gay man cannot be converted and if you want to remain friends, you would be wise not to pursue such a relationship. It will only hurt you in the end and cost you a friend.
Best to create a little distance for a while, wrap your head around the fact that you cannot have him and when you are comfortable being close friends again, then do so.

RUN FOR THE HILLS!! Gay men are gay men. He would have to be bi in order for you to even have a chance with him. Tell him how you feel and have a good chat with him about it. If he is as good and close a friend as you say then you will get an honest answer from him. AND REALLY LISTEN TO HIS ANSWER!!
Peace & Love

It's perfectly normal to love your best friends, and that's all he is. There's just something about our wiring that says that if you love a member of the opposite sex, you must mate. Not going to happen here...HE'S GAY!! It would be insulting to him if you acted on your primal instincts. Rise above and respect him and his sexuality. That's what best friends do. Your blessed to have friends you love.

There is nothing you can do. He is gay and you are a women. End of story. If you cannot cope with being friends, then you need to put some distance between you and him. It's not like you are going to 'convert' him.

it's probably not love you're feeling , it's probably just that your caught up in the fact theres a man who knows more about your hair than you do and he never missees an episode of sex and the city. get over that and you'll probably realize it's not the love between a man and a woman you feel, it's the love you can have for a friend or a fine cuban cigar.......

I had a roommate fall in love with me and it destroyed our friendship. She was crushed, we moved out - there were LOTS of tears and things got really ugly! I say nip it in the bud as quickly as possible.
Think of him making love to a man - hopefully that will turn you off!

oh I feel the same way! And I didn't see it, I didn't even expect it. I think he saw me falling into pieces ad he told me. But I still want to be close to him, hang around his shoulders, trapped in his arms where I am safe.... from everything
maybe that attracts me to him

he's gay, babes. think about it, he was brought up straight, and then realised he was gay. he changed from straight to gay. you cannot bring him back from what he has chosen. there is no chance of a relationship with him. it is better for you to separate yourself from him, or you'll be living in hope while all he takes you for is a sister...all the best

If he's at least "bi" it could work, but if he's completely gay, then just be happy you have such a great guy to be your best friend.
