India is the second fastest growing major economy in the world, with a GDP growth rate of 9.1%, as of the first quarter of 2006.

Out of 233 countries, India ranks 160 with a per capita income of $3,300 (2005 estimate). The CIA World Factbook has lots of great statistics and is always up-to-date.
