I was on it for about six months. Hated it. I hated that there is only a three hour window in which to take it, therefore every now and then I missed it. It drove me mad having to take the packet everywhere with me in case I stopped out late. I didn't like the fact you dont have a seven day break. It made my periods unpredictable and I also spotted quite a lot, which had never been a problem before or after taking it. The effectiveness of the mini pill is 95% whereas the combined one is 99%. I say if you can be safer, always take that option.

i tried the mini pill, my doctor thought that it might be the best thing for me after having my first child.
personally i found that i had terrible period pains and didn't ever settle down while on it, i have since hadanother child and gone onto a different type of pill.
never really had any side effects but do think that if you're not happy you should go and ask your doctor about alternatives

Ive been on the mini pill on and off for past 17 years. no real side effects as such. its good for helping with pmt. when you first start it, you may find you come on more often, this should settle after 2 months, sometimes you don't have periods, however i see that as a bonus:) hope this helps:)
