Animals have been the subjects of several experiments during manned spaceflights. Space shuttles have carried animals into space on numerous flights. Some "guests" include:
*Pocket mice, Apollo 17
*Pocket mice, mummichog, and cross spiders, Skylab 3
*Tortoises and zebrafish, Salyut 5
*Monkeys, rats, and insect eggs, STS-51-B
*Chicken embryos, STS-29
*Japanese tree frogs, Soyuz TM-11
*Silkworms, golden orb spiders, carpenter bees, harvester ants, Japanese killifish, and roundworms, STS-107
Animals have also been the subject of several vehicle test flights, especially in the early days of the space race. The USSR used dogs as test subjects for their Vostok spacecraft, and NASA used primates to evaluate the Mercury capsule. Both projects returned most passengers alive.

Yes, in fact several rodents were taken up to Skylab, which I didn't know until I looked this up. (1.)
By the way, cab_veteran is not correct. "Laika" the "Soviet space dog" died in orbit. Her capsule was not designed to undergo reentry.
There is some ambiguity over how she died. I had understood that she survived for over a week before her oxygen gave out, but Wikipedia claims she only survived a few hours after launch. Depressing. (2.)

The Americans put a monkey in space & The USSR put a dog into orbit. As far as any smaller rodents, not that I've heard of, though I wouldn't put it past the realm of possibility.
