Now don't get me wrong! I too lost a family member in the 9/11 attack on the WC in NY. However, I feel that we need not to be remembered over, over and over again. It is enough that the Media already are doing that. We need to learn to close our wounds. Our Politician are already dealing with Terror. Why do we need to be remembered????? I have enough of it. I decided not to turn on the TV today.

I have lost a family member. He was the first of the fire fighters to get into the World Trade center.
So grow up 1996 , and do not call me a lier. Its my opinion that all wounds should heal not stirred up again. Thats exactly what the Bush administration is doing, cause they can't justify any longer their political agenda. Cause they don't know how to answer our questions anylonger. Wake up before it is too late. New Politician needs this land!!!

sorry about your loss,,, to ensure another terrorist attack never happens on American soil,, we need a president that will not be asleep at the helm again, and will continue to pursue the person responsible for 9-11, Osama bin Laden,, 5 years and the Bush team just decided to stop looking in 2003,, meanwhile, bin Laden is on the Pakistan, Afghanistan border leading new terrorists training camps,,

You are being too short sighted...a common trait among Americans today. We don't have the right to forget, and how dare you even suggest it. I am especially appalled by your comments if you're not lying about having lost a family member.

Forgetting the past is part of what makes it possible for situations to repeat themselves, and it certainly isn't enough to simply let the politicians remember it...their memories are only as long as their terms in office.

I make a point to remember for several reasons: I was fortunate enough to not lose anyone close to me...he was home sick that day. I honor the memories of our country's first responders...all of whom chose to put themselves in harm's way. I take the 9/11 tragedy as a reminder against complacency in the world arena.

Those are just some of the reasons we don't have the luxury of allowing ourselves to push it to the back of our minds. Shame on you for daring to suggest otherwise.

I think the news media keeps playing it up. Fortunately I did not lose anyone in the 9/11 attach but if I had I think I would want to reflect on the death of my loved one alone. By keep playing it over and over you can never really let go. By the way, I had been looking forward to my 40th birthday for weeks. The girls and I had plans etc. Well my 40th birthday was on 9/11/2001. Every year since then has never been the same. Even counting today when I turned 45. It's always a sad day now.

I understand what you are saying!

I feel for the victims families i really do but im sure it doesn't help every year as they are just getting a bit of closure, it is back on the TV even more glorified than before!
There was a programme on BBC 1 last Thursday about the survivors, i watched it and cried my eyes out thinking of the families watching it as it was like a film! Not a documentary!

Everyone will remember the 9/11 attacks and it will be close to their hearts everyday but i agree enough is enough!

I find it very difficult to answer your question, since you lost a family member in the attack. And I don't want to hurt your feelings.
I have a hope though, that when 9/11 is remembered regularly people will begin to realize that we are dealing with terrorism in the wrong way, however understandable the anger may be.

People still remember Pearl Harbor. It is a day that changed the world. It is so historically significant you will not be able to avoid being reminded of it for a very long time. Sorry about your loss, btw.

i understand how you feel, but , most people need that one day out of the year for true rememberance. see , after you lose someone tragically, it is very easy to get caught in a deep depression for a long time, look at the city where it happened, new york, the city that never sleeps, life is busy and if we want to survive and take care of ourselves and our children we have to be strong, still go to work , and force ourselves to move on. in order to do this you have to set your sadness aside, this is the one day of the year that they can let everything else go and deal with their feelings of loss. some choose to mourn while others tend to be angry, however you choose to remember your loved one is up to you, but please don't get upset about the coverage. and i turned my tv to a channel that is not covering it, it makes me cry alot, it is one of the saddest things i have every seen in my whole life. bless you.

Its something that shouldn't be forgotten and unfortunately a lot of people have forgotten how significant it was. Also there are people who may have been too young when it happened and now that they are older, they need to fully understand what happened. I do agree, there has been a little too much about it on tv.

Are you serious? You can't be... are you joking??

God save us from our stupidity.. forgive us that have no heart, no fellowship with our brothers & sisters, no ability to mourn tragedy.

We need to be reminded & mourn for same reason there is a Memorial Day (you know what that is right, why we celebrate it?).. The same reason we have 4th of July, Veterans Day... on and on.. To remember the fallen loved ones.. be thankful for our Veterans who protected our rights.. including your right to ask a STUPID question like this.

Good grief... you're pissing on patriotism, democracy, liberty, and America... how ungrateful of you.

You will remember regardless. I think you've got a good idea for yourself, no TV and no radio for a few days. It's a good time to get that "one chore" finished you haven't gotten to yet.

People need to remember, for the same reasons we need to remember the Holocaust. In a way, anyhow, because this assault on our soil was financed by our government...
