I have found a load of old German mark and other coins and I wanted to know if I could still change them or are they of any use at all.

You can't change them,

But I made £200 selling old French Francs on E-bay to a coin collector.

Make sure you get good photo's of them

I took a gamble sticking them on e-bay, but you could take them to a coin collector for them to look at them. Crack open a phone book under:
Collectibles
Coin Collectors
There is a word for coin collecting, but I just drew a blank on it.

Not any more. They stopped exchanging Deutsche Marks in Germany in the last couple of years and towards the end it was only notes. Countries outside of Germany stopped within a year or so of the Euro coming into being.

Yes, but only the paper ones. Most US Banks wont exchange foreign coins.
