i can edit many audio files with wavepad, acoustica, ezmp3 edit,etc. are there easy video editors out there?

Pinnacle Studio. Available on Yahoo shopping for less than $75.00. I have used several versions of this editor and it works great.

It has sound effects track, background music track and two video tracks with a sound track on the original video. You can fade and do rudimentary editing like cropping of music in this editor, but it may be easier to do most of the music editing outside and bring it in the video editor to use as is or trim things as needed in the video editor.
