defintely watch the first two i listed, they are the best horror movies
since you said excellent, don't watch Scream (it's not a horror movie, it's a parody), Wolf Creek, Cry Wolf, The Ring 2

Rosemary's Baby, The Omen, Silver Bullet, The Shining, Manhunter (or the remake, Red Dragon), Cube, Saw, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1970s), The Lost Boys (not really horrific, but a great genre flick), Shaun of the Dead (again, more of a comedy, but terrific), May, Dead Birds, The Grudge (original Japanese and American), The Ring (American version was better, I think), House on Haunted Hill, and 13 Ghosts (cheesy, but genuinely scary sometimes), Evil Dead, Poltergeist (not so much horror, but great Spielberg flick), Jacob's Ladder (thriller).
