Daddy long legs don't fly, but that's besides the point. You probably killed a mosquito eater, which is a beneficial bug, but why would you feel guilty about killing it? If you sat down and pulled each leg and wing off and left it to die, that would be different. I know some people disagree with me, but I really do see a difference between bugs and other life. I would not recommend killing a cat or dog unless it really is needed (ex. if the animal is suffering), but I see no reason not to kill insects as long as it is done quickly. I've found that really everyone agrees with this, even people I've talked to from organizations like PETA. Think on this, do you let fire ants go rampant in your yard if you have kids? Would you not swat a spider, say a black widow, that is crawling on your kid? Do you not give your cats flea baths and other treatment if it is infested? I could go on and on. If you answered no to any of these, you are probably lying, maybe even to yourself. If we don't feel guilty about killing these types of bugs, why would you feel guilty about killing any other?

It depends on you really.

Every day, we all accidentally squash the life out of something, without even realising it. even washing your hands kills bacteria. So where you choose to draw the line is a personal thing I feel.

Daddy long legs (Crainflies) have a goodly amount of toxin int heir bodies, and would be about the most poisenous insect in Britain if it did but have teeth, so perhaps you could justify it as one of many things?

It might be revenge for all the things it's ancestors killed, or it might be that it is just another insignificant thing in the long line of things to be squashed by yourself. Or there's even the fate thing, whereby it was destined to be in that situation at that time, and that was supposed to be how it was to die?

If you look at it from a Buddhist point of view then you could justify if as what was supposed to happen, and you are helping a soul to evolve into the next step.

No: they are barely sentient and it was in your space. A bear or whatever would have done the same to you. OK, you are more reasoning than a bear, but it was an annoyance. Anyway, rooks practically live on their grubs, so there are plenty of them.

You can't feel guilty for everything in the world.

I don't know. I kill roaches and things like you killed and it does not make me feel guilty. they are just pest. But if you can try to catch them, the good bugs, not raoches, in a towel and throw them outside. I try to do that. But then sometimes, like you I may just kill them. Daddy Long legs don't fly either, they crawl. That thing you killed can stink you, so you had a right to kill it. God Bless!

We are very lucky to be at the top of the food chain so when necessary we must kill. Just only kill when something invades your space or to eat. For any other reason it's inhumane.

Why couldn't you catch it in a glass and put it outside? Why did you have to kill it? Yes, you should feel guilty. All life is sacred.
