What happened to your little room at the school place?
I have never lived in a homeless shelter...but I have had experiences similar. I hope everything works out OK.

I do not think it is bad to live in a homeless shelter. If you mean is it uncomfortable at times to live in a shelter then I agree.
I have both lived in a shelter and worked in a shelter. It is not easy either way. When I worked in a shelter, the people in the neighborhood wanted to shut it down. I can't begin to tell you the nightmare of the extreme lengths the neighbors went to to try to keep homeless people from coming into the neighborhood. We had to be very careful of traffic going in and out of the neighborhood. The neighbors were constantly spying on us trying to get a reason to shut us down. I could go on about this but I won't.
I want to encourage you to keep your head up no matter what life brings you. You can make it.
In my journey I have found that many people would like to make homeless people criminals. Some homeless people get treated like criminals. I was treated that way many times.
Some people are so full of pride in what they think they have accomplished that they look down on others who are not in their situation. By situation I mean living in a house or apartment etc.
They do not realize that a storm, fire or some other unforseen factor could leave them homeless also.
There are, however, some good people who have compassion and realize that they could be in our shoes. These are people who do not judge, but instead reach out and treat people in need like they would want to be treated.
I pray that you run into some good people on your journey.
As for the lack of freedom, being in that situation has helped me to enjoy my freedom now that I am no longer homeless. I can tell you, however, that it was very uncomfortable and at times almost unbearable.
But, you can deal with it. Don't ever give up. Keep your goals in front of you and press on.
You will be in my prayers.

I don't think going to the shelter and living there is bad. What might be bad is why you are there in the first place. I suppose there has to be some sort of rules and regulations that must be followed when staying in the shelter or there would be turmoil.
Contact a social worker or try to better yourself so you don't have to be in the shelter.

It's better than it being full and having to live in a box under a bridge in the heat/cold, or in a beat up car parked in an alley. Not to sound like a jerk, but I think you should be a little more grateful you have a place to go. They have rules there for a reason, imagine what would happen if there weren't any?

And yet you have access to the internet and ask questions on Y/A. I feel for those in homeless shelters, but I feel that alot of them waist their time when they could be working and trying to get out of this situation. Get off the internet(how are you on the internet anyways from a homeless shelter) and go to work.

A homeless shelter with internet connection for use to be on an open forum and not for looking up jobs, places to rent, etc. HMMMM
Also you previously stated that you are on both social security and disability so why don't you have any money for your own place?
I am on disability only and I have my own place, plenty of food, a vehicle, and I also support a grandchild.
Makes on wonder what you are blowing your money on??????????

I have had to live in one and yes it is very structured and there are rules that have to be followed. But they have to have them when dealing with all the different people that find themselves in that situation. Put yourself in the adminastrations shoes. They have to deal with every type of personality and family situations.

No one is forcing you to stay there.. it has to be better than being on the street. I am sure they have to maintain somr form of control, as it would be a madhouse without it. It does give you the opportunity to seek ways to better your situation in life.
