Actually(from experience and talking with other women)it is something we were always taught.Let the man Approach you, don't be forward, and make him call you! Call it being old fashioned,or having self respect or whatever, but most women are taught that from childhood.I was.I will say however that this is 2006 and if a woman is comfortable with asking a guy out or calling, go for it!But there is something called "that look" that most women use to let a man know she is interested! You know..a little eye contact,a not so flirty smile, and a few others I won't reveal so as not to give all of our secrets away! LOL!!And you guys have to admit it works! Why do you think you approach us in a club!(wink wink)It's because 85% of the time we let you know we're interested! And by the way, no one likes rejection so people need to try to be tactful if they aren't interested.

I have never had a problem with approaching men in bars/clubs. I think that women are still very much in the dark age when it comes to dating. We need to catch up and realise that if we want something, we have to go after it! I am now happily married and have been for 6 years, and I asked my husband to marry me!

It's a gender bias issue. Historically, it's the man's job to "make the running" and approach the woman. Despite years of feminism and changes in society, it is still regarded as the man's "job" to approach the woman rather than the other way around.

Some women feel that if they approach a man in a bar/club the man will think the woman is "making the first move" and therefore is cheap.

Think it's simply a case of good old fashioned tradition that still prevails, although women strive for equality I think many still enjoy the thought that a man may approach them first not too sure why though

you are so wrong, if i am attracted to a guy i used to walk up to him offer him a pint or bottle of lager. Then see what type of bloke he is, i normally liked them no guys used to have a problem with me doing this. This is how I met my hubby. Life is to short to sit still and let men do all the work. I am way to impatient.

Yes they are scared of rejection, imagine asking someone if they would like a drink, or like to dance etc, and they just stare at you and walk away, or don' t answer, mmm that would be embrassing.

some women are just old fashion, some are too nervous, some yes, afraid of rejection, and others might just be playing around to see if they can make a guy come over to them...

Women don't handle rejection well. Haven't you ever not flirt with a girl and got those nasty look any time you see her afterwards?
