Hi. I book most of my clients to Las Vegas. Get away from Chicago's cold weather. Not sure what your budget is but you can go to Hawaii, Mexico, or the Carribbean during those times for real cheap. If you still can't decide on a location, then why not do a cruise. What a great opportunity to visit multiple countries and only unpack once. Let me know your specific interests and I will help you with your vacation.

Depends on your budget, of course.
If you can fly - then you're in good shape almost anywhere in the country.
If you're thinking of driving, that limits your choices, as you won't want to get caught by bad weather. St. Louis is a nice visit, although I'm not sure there is an entire week-and-a-half worth of things to do there of any interest.
I think the best idea might be to grab touristy information folders from the Chicago Tourism folks and spend a week exploring your own back yard here. A day at the Field Museum, another day at the Shedd Aquarium, top of the Sears Tower, up to Gurnee for the outlet malls...

60 hours is about a week and a half, if you work full time. You could extend it by starting your vacation on a weekend. You're probably better off going in November or early December to avoid the high season rates that are common at Christmas time. Why not check the usual discount sites to see if you can pick up an off-season or last minute bargain. (Yahoo, Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, Travelzoo)

I would suggest to push your vacation immediately after thanksgiving. This would give additional time plus gives a great opportunity to see warm places with much lower cost. You can book your trip right after thanksgiving. Say 3/5 days and then come back home and relax. Do some shopping if you like then join back work in a great shape.

Many helter skelter fragments in your statement.
Why not take some Mondays off for R&R. That will give you some 3 day weekends to "relax" and get things together.
Take a couple days next to a weekend and go for a 300 mile drive to a beautiful place and enjoy the scenery.

Go to South America or Australia, where the seasons are reversed...unless you like cold weather and skiing. Another great place to go is Mexico...the people are wonderful and it's a beautiful country.
Here's a website that has 25 wonderful Fall Vacations.

I WOULD SUGGEST VISITING A CITY YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE.
FYI:
ST. LOUIS IS A FUN PLACE TO VISIT. IT'S PRETTY CHEAP CITY. U CAN VISIT THE ARCH AND IF U HAVE KIDS, THE ZOO IS REALLY NICE AND IT IS FREE. THE ZOO IS LOCATED IN AMERICA'S LARGEST PARK (BIGGER THAN NYC CENTRAL PARK).
