Well as an English person living in France I can say they are basically nice people but have a tendancy to be a little blunt and brash. They don t know the meaning of the word"Queue" and have no spacial awareness when around others. However I ve also got some great friends who don t fit into these descriptions so I guess u can t pidgeonhole an entire nation.

Are they really proud of them? Are you French, because that's terrible English grammar?

Every nation has there stereotypical images of different nationalities, according to the bigoted bloke down ya' local pub, the french are all garlic guzzling, beret wearing, port blocking, socialist scum.

However more intelligent human beings would answer that, you have good and bad people in every race. Generally speaking, the french have a much more sophisticated culture than us Brits, better wines, far superior cuisine, better transport infrastructure, pay less taxes on most things etc...In my experience the French have always been courteous and friendly...viva la France!

French people are very PRO American, though their goverment policy's may vary from ours. The people in France are very nice people, but their culture varies from American culture, which Americans may take as being rude (most countries think America's up-front friendliness is fake and rude)

So, Yes, I like the French though I do not like Paris nor plan to ever go back there.

The French have a great expression about themselves that goes as following. When God made France he had done such a good job he was afraid he'd make people jealous. It's for that purpose he made the French. They know they are a little arrogant and chauvinist deep down and they like that side of them. That isn't to say that they aren't friendly folks. Most of them are

French people are nice usually. The closer to Paris the less friendly though. And the south in the summer can be the same.

The French are cool.

Saying they are weak (as in war) is not possible, either.
They have borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.

In military terms, impossible to defend.
In the world wars, they have been conquered both times by a superior force, but given the geographical position, and the number of miles of border this is normal.

I liked the comment someone added "they know how to handle Americans" ! Great !

My father who was Belgian in the last war was trying to escape to England through France.
On his way asked a French woman for water to drink she would not give him any unless he paid for it.
He still got to England to rejoin his unit here to fight the Germans.
To his dying day he never liked the French.
In saying that there are good and bad in all ppl.

They have a fine culture, they are obsessed with food and wine - and I can't fault them for that- but they have a problem with the English (in common with most of the rest of the world, it seems). In some ways, they are too moch like the English, so we tend not to get on sometimes. They remember us as the enemy still, much as we tend to the Germans, perhaps. They do appreciate each other, and treat women with respect, in general. They are OK.

They are a very accommodating and hospitable people. Look how they planted lots of tall trees by the side of the road because the German soldiers like to march in the shade
