42 is supposed to be the answer to life. According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, there was a super-computer which figured out the answer to life and it was 42. The issue was that no one knew what the question truly was.

I'm not exactly sure what you're reference to green is but I think that you mean "soylent green". If so, the movie is Soylent Green. Basically people were eating a food in the movie called soylent green; no one really knew what it was made of but everyone loved it. Charlton Heston gets wrapped up in the mystery and is accused of various crimes because he is "too close" to the answer. At the end of the movie, they are pulling him away as he screams "It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people."

"42" is the answer to the question "What is the ultimate meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything" given by the supermegacomputer "Deep Thought" in Douglas Adams's novel "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

As for "green," the only thing that comes to mind is the discovery that soylent green, a favorite food in the dystopian science fiction movie of the same name, is . . . PEOPLE!!!
