No, you really don't need any experience.

Most places start with a part-time or weekend position, and you just have to be a very personable type who likes people and can answer the questions regarding the apartment lease or contract.
You have to be able to thoroughly understand it and be able to communicate the terms to renters.

Some places prefer a person who has real estate experience, but many places do not. Also mobile home lots and vacation home sales are very close to this type of positon.

Usually, you don't need a license to show an apartment. You need a license to manage a property, or to sign a lease though.

Check around...the average turnaround for a leasing consultant is < 3 months, if you can believe that! I just had one quit on me a week ago.

Get a good resume together and put on your most professional face...

Depends on the state. In SC you need a license to be a consultant
