Depends on the type of surgeon. Heart surgeon, brain surgeon, vascular surgeon, eye surgeon.... THe lists are endless. But I'd say minimum a surgeon would make a year would be roughly $100,000.00 USD a year. That could also vary if he has his own private practice or if he's working at a hospital as a contracted surgeon or as their own surgeon.

I could not give you an exact figure..Anyone below consultant level is usually only on an NHS contract and work terrible hours.
You make big bucks only when you become a Consultant Surgeon in the UK.
A salary for working in the NHS, then they toodle off to private practise and earn another salary there.
They do have to work hard but the money is there if they are willing to do it....which is what most Surgeons actually strive for( if I might state my opinion).
They want for nothing except perhaps some free time.

Depends on several factors: Is he/she with a group? What is the population base where the practice will be? How many other surgeons in the area? Is there a subspecialty? It varies between about 200K up to half a million or more. But be forewarned, the malpractice is going to set you back up to 150K per year for neurosurgery, slightly less for other specialties.
