What in the WORLD was the name of Bastien's mom? The one he screams out the window in the end. Ya know, "My mom, she had such a beautiful name." What was it?? I haven't been able to figure it out for 20 years!

Good question. (((Shame no one is paying attention to it...)))

PEOPLE!!!!!! MOON CHILD IS NOT HIS MOTHER'S NAME!!!

She did NOT ask what the Empress' name was!!!!

PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!

I digress... sorry...

I no longer own a copy (having FINALLY given it up after 10+ years...) and NOW you ask this question...

I have seen the first movie, and the second, but they were a long time ago, as well.

I have not seen the third movie, but I understand that Canada did a live action TV series... Sounds interesting. There was also a cartoon series, but it wasn't based on anything in the book. (besides the characters.)

Good luck!

*************

Oh!!!

You know what you could do??!!??

Rent the movie, and turn your CC (closed captioning) on your tv on. THEN you should be able to figure it out!!

(((That works with "Bomhower" on "King of the Hill", which is SOOOooo funny to see what he really IS saying! LoL!)))

Initially the Childlike Empress has no name, but is later given her name, Moon Child (German Mondenkind), by Bastian Balthazar Bux. The Empress is given a new name by each human child who visits Fantastica, so in fact she did have a name before Moon Child but it was given to her so long ago that it was forgotten by the people and creatures of Fantastica.

the name he calls out is MOON CHILD (but the mothers name is never mentioned,and its not mentioned whether this is his mothers name,Bastian just calls out this name but its a mystery if its the mothers name or not.

heres the portion from the movie script

Childlike Empress:

Bastian, why don't you do what you dream, Bastian ?

Bastian:

Childlike Empress:

Call my name ! Bastian, please ! Save us !

Bastian:

All right, I'll do it. I'll save you. I will do what I dream!

He climbs up to the window and opens it. He leans out into the storm and calls out the name he had chosen for her.

Bastian:

MOONCHILD!

NEXT SCENE-

Darkness, pure and black as night. We hear Bastian speak.

Bastian:

style="mso-tab-count: 2"> style="mso-tab-count: 1"> style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Why is it so dark?

Empress Moonchild:

In the beginning it is always dark.

A small light appears and starts growing until the two childs faces are

illuminated. It is coming from an object in Moonchild's hand. Bastian looks at it.

Bastian:

style="mso-tab-count: 2"> style="mso-spacerun: yes"> What is that ?

Empress Moonchild:
