Halo and its Sequel, sorry , i didnt catch the last bit about no halo, so i would go with doom 3, Call of duty 1 and 2, Half life, pretty much any thing with blood guts and gore, or some sort of hellish theme.

Check out Chronicals of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Doom 3, or Half-Life 2. Military wise, Call of Duty or Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, the Star Wars Battlefront games can be played in first person, plus Star Wars: Republic Commando. That is for the Original Xbox, not the Xbox 360.
