Pro wrestling--at least since the days of Frank Gotch and Strangler Lewis--is a "work". That means that the wrestlers "work" together to put on an entertaining match to lead up to a finish that has been predetermined by the guy running the promotion--typically referred to as the "booker"--to further whatever longterm storyline he has in mind for the promotion.
This is differentiated from an actual competitive fight--like boxing or MMA--which is referred to as a "shoot".
Historically, the "booker" would just tell the two wrestlers in a particular match what the finish would be and how long the match should go and maybe some other details--it should be a bloody, brawl or a good, clean match or whatever.. The guys would then basically improvise in the ring--if you watch closely you can frequently see the wrestlers talking to each other during matches. This is known as "calling spots"--essentially telling the other guy what's going to happen next.
Nowadays--particularly in the WWE--a lot of the actual match is scripted. That's why old school fans really dislike the current product and many of the current wrestlers--there's not as much creativity, spontaneity and in-ring action as in the past. Being able to "work" a match effectively is a very difficult proposition and the guys who can--Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, and Jack Brisco to throw out some names from history, and more recent guys like Kurt Angle--have a very unique talent.
Pro wrestling is a very physically demanding and dangerous form of entertainment, but every bit of it is scripted, predetermined or--at the very least--the two wrestlers are working co-operatively to put on an entertaining show for the fans. The WWE is even more extreme in its scripted nature, and there's little if anything you see or hear on TV that hasn't been scripted beforehand and approved by Vince McMahon.
I guess you can say that its "real" in the sense that the physical demands and risk of injury are "real". That's the only thing "real" about it, however. Virtually everything about the product--particularly in the WWE--has been determined in advance.

The wrestling is real but the outcome of the match is pre-determined.

tigresspunk... excellent answer. It's situational and move specific. Yes... it's scripted, choreographed and practiced, so in that respect the matches themselves aren't real. But define real. Those are real bodies being slammed and chopped and crashed into ring posts and steel steps. Those are real injuries that they suffer. Those are real pain pills they take to get through their matches.

No, they are not. They used to be, but ever since Vince McMahon got the idea to incorporate storylines and soap opera like antics, the matches are staged and choreographed.

Yes and No. The outcomes are fixed and the major moves are planned. In most cases, the punches are pulled and the block the shot. But there are times when what you see is what you get. I admit, it is very rare, but sometimes the fighting is real.

I swear they are as real as Santa and the Easter Bunny. In fact, that would be a good matchup...

Yes they are.
And the Tooth Fairy exists, as does the Easter Bunny.
